I had a chance to be at the first such concert hosted by (then *new*) FM radio station, WOUR. Nice late summer evening with live music and a teen-aged girlfriend. Years after getting home from service and getting married, we'd go sit at the Eagle on the 4th of July to watch fireworks. Do they even LET anyone up to the Eagle anymore?

Was that you!?
You were 17 eh? So was I, and as I recall...that fall I left for Basic at Parris Island and left it all behind.
Geez... if you REALLY want to know some history, I used to drink with "Doc Rock" and his brother up behind Star's on Champlin Ave. back then too! There was a huge patch of woods that was adjacent to the store building. All kinds of Whitesboro, New York Mills, and some Utica kids partied back there. More than once I got chased outta there by any number of police from that area. Them damn pot smokers! hehehe
Fellah couldn't even drink a beer and make out. ;D

In New Hartford the drinking spot in those days was "The Alamo" . It was an abandoned bridge at the Saquoit Creek. It was near what was Doe Skin by where that U-Haul rental place is now. Just off the Arterial. It was great until a knucklehead got drunk (stoned) and fell off it and broke his neck. He survived and as far as I know is fine.
