When my daughter Carrin was about 12 he wrote a column about street baseball. She was a regular reader of his column and wrote him about it and her own memories of playing baseball with her brother. A couple days later he called and asked my permission to print her letter and do a phone interview with her. A week or so later, that letter and interview were in his column. She clipped it and kept it on her bulletin board for years.

He is a great guy and has always been a fixture as well as a valuable asset to the OD. I am sure that his fellow employees will miss him greatly.

Working 40 years at the OD he must have been highly respected. I used to read his columns all the time. I hope he has a long fullfilling retirement, he's certainly earned it.

Dave is one heck of a trumpet player as well. He's with the MVCC Concert Band and when we (the Utica College Concert Band) did a joint concert with them last semester, Dave played the trumpet solo on "Blue Moon" and he did a beautiful job.
Aside from being a tremendous asset to the OD for many years, and a great trumpet player, Dave is a real nice guy, too.
