REPORTS OF NORTH UTICA WALMART BEING CLOSED NORTH UTICA- Several viewers have called saying Walmart in North Utica closed Sunday afternoon. We have calls into their corporate office to get more information. They told us they would send us a statement regarding this matter. NEWSChannel 2 camera crews said the parking lot was completely empty on Sunday afternoon. There were several posts on social media stating people were shooting at cars in the parking lot. Utica Police have confirmed that's not true. We are currently waiting for corpoarte offices to get back to us. www.wktv.com/content/news/Reports-of-North-Utica-Walmart-being-closed-570906661.html

Yepper! They sent us home as soon as I pulled into the parking lot for my shift @ 2pm.
Wondering IF we'll get paid for it too.

It's ridiculous. There were protests today in Utica without a hint of violence & as far as I know nothing in Rome either. Personally, I don't care one way or another what WM does but the closing achieved nothing except inconvienance people.

With so many protests turning violent somebody got nervous. No doubt about that CB. As you know, I don't like Walmart, but I think it was a prudent move to make until things calm down a bit. They had to weigh the difference between the losses they would suffer if the store was looted and burned, or the money they lose by closing down for a period of time. Insurance might cover the a lot of the costs incurred but would not cover the lost wages by employees if the store had to be closed for a long period while they repaired the damage from looters and rioters.
