No one is allowed to visit Arlington Cemetery except family members of those buried there. Kathy's nephew's girlfriend is in DC to visit her son who is a marine that is stationed there. She say that the hotel lobby is almost empty, the hotel is not heavily booked, there restaurant and bar are closed and the only food available is through room service and the poll is also closed. She said that they have been all round the city, viewing the sights, but not being able to go into most of them. She says that traffic is so light that they were able to move all around the city, relatively unimpeded by any heavy traffic, even on the mall. Restaurants are closed to all but takeout customers.
I imagine that today there will be people visiting the other war memorials if they are open to the public. I am not sure if they are allowing people to visit the Vietnam wall or not. That memorial is laid out in such a fashion, with a wide walkway that controlled entry and flow would make it feasible to allow people in while enforcing social distancing guidelines.
Having toured DC so many times while driving a charter bus, inching along the mall, bumper to bumper with other tour buses and tourists in cars, long lines at the museums, and at the Capitol and memorials and monuments, it is hard to envision the streets being relatively empty and all the attractions closed or restricted.
