There was a thread on a Utica/Rome area Facebook page this morning talking about Kewpie's. I have lots of memories of going there for lunch during the short period that I attended UFA before moving to Whitesboro High. I got into a fist fight in there on night after a school dance when some idiot was putting the ketchup packets on the floor and stomping on them, making huge mess. I walked over and took the ketchup packets away from his table and that was when the feces hit the fan. The cook came out and broke up the fight, and threw the ketchup stomping morons out of the place. Probably saved my skinny ass from taking a beating. I was tall and skinny and only weighed a meager 140 pounds when I went into the Navy. LOL My oldest son is lucky. He can STILL go to Kewpies for a burger and malt. He lives in St Mary's Ohio, not far from the Kewpies location in Lima Ohio. It is the present day home of the headquarters of Kewpie. I never knew growing up in Utica NY that Kewpies was actually a national brand. When Wendy's opened with square hamburgers and chocolate malts I thought that they were just like the Kewpie burgers and malts we enjoyed on Oneida Square in Utica NY. It was much later that I googled Kewpie's restaurants and found that Dave Thomas actually lived near a Kewpies and that the Kewpie burger and malt were the inspiration behind the square burgers and thick frosted malts that have made Wendy's famous. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kewpee
