The weather is a mix of alternating sunshine and clouds with scattered rain storms moving through periodically with some bringing brief heavy downpours. We plan on taking a ride around Watauga Lake, about a half hour to our East. There is yet another campground that we have not explored that we want to check out. Then we plan to return through Johnson City and place flowers on my friend John's grave at the national cemetery, and then to Gunnings Tn, to place a fresh flag on my mom and dad's grave. I always maintain a fresh flag on dad's grave in a veteran's flag holder rather than to depend on any veteran's association to do it. The cemetery is small and sort of out of the way between Bristol and Kingsport so flag placement by vet's organizations has proven to be sporadic over the years.
Because of the pandemic the flag placement at the national cemetery will not be done by the usual volunteers from local boy scout troops. They are asking for volunteers to work both tomorrow and Sunday to place over 10,000 flags. Depending on the weather I may go and volunteer for a few hours one of those days. I sincerely hope that they get a good turnout of volunteers. There is little that is more moving than to see 10,000 flags waving in the breeze over the rolling gentle knolls of the cemetery. The forever home of 10,000 of our nation's war heroes and other patriotic veterans who served. I have several friends and acquaintances buried there that have passed on since we moved here in 2002.

I always enjoyed the small town parade like in Canastoda.
