A friend of ours that works in a large Food City superstore has contracted the virus and is recovering at home, 8 days into the 14 day quarantine. Prayers are needed. Her husband is undergoing chemo and radiation for stage 4 lymphoma and as a result HIS immune system is compromised. For him to come down with it could quite likely be fatal. They are a couple who are only in their mid fifties and have always been very physically fit and active. I avoid that particular store because it is always crowded, and when I have visited the gas station there, the parking lot is always jammed to the max with cars and people carrying on like there was no stay at home order. Very few masks, and lots of people with kids and entire families coming and going. She has a job similar to Ralph but works days. She receives and stocks goods in the freezer and dairy sections, and says that ignorant people with no masks are constantly up in her face asking questions. I hope that with Tennessee starting to reopen businesses, that they continue to have the early morning time slot for seniors to shop. I like the Food City where I shop because it is less populated than the stores in Bristol proper. I keep Ralph in my prayers. I imagine that the N Utica Walmart is over run with unmasked nitwits who could care less about anyone but themselves. The last time I shopped at Krogers a young guy was up my ass while I was checking out at the self checkout. On his phone, and chatting with his girl friend who was also up my ass. I gave them the raised eyebrow and it didn't work. Finally I turned and told him if he were to pull his head out of his ass, and his nose out of his cell phone he would be able to see the decals on the floor marking the six foot distancing. They backed off. When I was leaving I told him to have a nice day and to stay safe. He flipped me off, hahaha!

I'll definitely say a prayer for them both Clipper. That Food City sounds a lot like my Walmart for sure. I go back to work tomorrow and am not looking forward to another week of playing dodge people all day long. I certainly makes my job harder and longer to get done, not to mention raising my anxiety level through the roof. It doesn't matter if you have arrows on the floor and mask requirements if you are not going to enforce them. They leave that to us folks on the floor, but our manager doesn't want us to push the issue because they don't want the customers to give US grief. BS! She just doesn't want to piss of the customers.

I love doing my business in Blountville. It is the Sullivan County Seat but it is only about the size of Clinton and the stores are a lot less crowded.

I missed my on-line lodge meeting this week. I made the mistake of sitting down after dinner and putting my feet up. Automatic snooze.
Hang in there, Ralph. I get nervous even making a grocery pick up. People working on the front lines are the real heroes.

When I was in Rome yesterday I stopped at Ace Hardware to pick up some grass seed on sale that I ordered online. Got out of my truck, mask in hand, which I dropped & was blown accross the parking lot. Crap, I only had the one. I went in anyway & boy did I get some glares. Guess I better start carrying an extra.

I went to Lowes yesterday for bagged topsoil and straw. I forgot to take my mask. I ended up coming back home to get it I am NOT going into any stores without it. About a week ago I went into CVS without a mask and was uncomfortable doing so. I now have a bandana and rubber bands in the console to make a quick one if I forget to take my regular mask from home.

We keep one mask in each car. When I get in the car, I put it on but not over my face. If I have it on my face my glasses fog up. Easy to pull up if I get out even if it is at the gas pump.

BHU. Check CVS. Ours had masks yesterday when I went there. They are N95 masks sealed in a cellophane wrapper for $1.99. I bought 5 of them. A nurse friend told me that the virus in fact will only live for about 72 hours on such a mask, so if you set them aside somewhere where you won't be handling them or touching them for 72 hours they can be reused. I left a couple in the truck so that if Kathy and I are both out and need a mask we will have one close at hand to grab and use. I still have my cloth masks at home that can be washed and reused over and over. and also in the truck I had put a bandana mask, made by folding a bandana with rubber bands to go over your ears. You can go on line and get instructions for folding the bandana into a mask. Hey, ya never can have too many masks. Just don't be caught without one when you need one, and don't go out in public without one under any circumstances. This is the new normal and it looks like it is here to stay for the foreseeable future. Hand sanitizers and masks. I don't venture out without either.

I have a few N95's that I bought in Harbor Freight last year when I was sanding a few deck boards that were stained. Didn't want to inhale that stuff. But I will check CVS to see if they have any. We'll need them because this is the new normal for some time going forward.
