A little protien rich Southern comfort food on the agenda today. We boiled up the ham bone from Easter, picked about a pound or so of meat off the bone and added it to the resulting broth. She added a couple of diced sweet Texas onions, and a quart of chicken broth to the pot. She had soaked a couple pounds of white beans overnight and tossed them in. It has been simmering on the stove for an hour or so and smells wonderful. Southern folks don't call it bean soup. They call it "soup beans" and usually eat it with cornbread on the side. The cornbread batter is ready for the oven. I can't wait to dive into a big bowl of the beans, sprinkled with hot sauce and accompanied by a nice slab of hot cornbread.
Just a lazy day of kicking back and relaxing. I managed to develop tendonitis in my elbow so I not able to get out and do anything outside or in my shop. I spent the afternoon yesterday in my shop and between standing at the scroll saw and sanding with hand held sanders all afternoon I over stressed my elbow I guess.Today I am just sitting around with my arm on a pillow, icing the elbow every couple of hours for about 15 minutes. Painful as hell. I couldn't even put on my own t-shirt this morning. I may end up going for an injection if it isn't better by Monday. This getting old isn't for sissies.
