New York state works to open new Central NY COVID-19 testing site in Walmart parking lot

EAST SYRACUSE, NY -- A new mobile testing site for COVID-19 is being set up in the Walmart parking in East Syracuse, according to a village official.
East Syracuse Village Mayor Robert Tackman said he has received word from Walmart officials at the East Syracuse store that they are working with the state on a testing site there. Tackman said he is awaiting word from Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office on the site and its purpose.
Cuomo on Friday announced the state is ramping up antibody testing, a key component he said of any plan to reopen the economy. It is not known at this time if the East Syracuse site would be part of that effort.
An antibody test determines whether someone has ever been infected with the coronavirus. People who have been infected are believed to be immune and may be able to safely return to work.
The state is currently conducting 300 antibody tests a day, and is on track to conduct 1,000 per day by next Friday and 2,000 per day by the following week, state officials said.
“That’s great, sounds like a lot, but 2,000 tests are still a drop in the bucket,” Cuomo said.
Cuomo said he’s ready to work with the federal government to conduct that mass testing. He announced in the meantime he’s working with New Jersey and Connecticut to create a regional testing partnership.

This reminds me of the mass vaccinations that took place in schools during Polio Epidemic. When the vaccine for COVID 19 comes out I bet the same will be done providing the virus doesn't mutate again and make even more problems next year which can happen. Be interesting.
