There is a risk for severe weather on Monday. Strong thunderstorms could produce frequent lightning, damaging winds, small hail, and the possibility for isolated weak tornadoes. Stay indoors. Watch us live at 6pm on WKTV NEWSChannel 2 for updates. #wktv #cnywx

My brother Bill who lives near the border of MN and SD reports that he is snowed in today. Fun times ahead.

It's going to get a bit nasty here tonight and into tomorrow morning too. High winds and heavy rains. wcyb.com/weather/weather-blog/strong-to-severe-t-storms-possible-on-easter-sundayI hate it when storms like this roll through during the darkness hours. We are right on the edge of the red zone where tornadoes are a possibility. High winds are forecast for the mountains with gust up to 60-70mph. Here in the foothills and valleys we could see 30-50mph gusts. That is enough to do some damage and uproot trees with the ground already saturated with rain and more coming. It has rained steadily here since before noon. It is strange how these weather systems set up. Snow in Minnesota, and severe weather forecast for CNY, yet my son and his fiance' just called and they were on their way back to St Mary's Ohio after spending the day looking at lake front condos on Lake Erie near Port Clinton Ohio. It was in the mid 60's and just a bit of a breeze all afternoon there.

What are we to do with all these events it is just so damn depressing. It is all negative with everybody dying. How can God continue to purify His people like in the days of old. We are doomed.
Joel 2:2 A day of doom and gloom, a day of clouds and shadows like the dawn spreads out to cover the mountains a people strong and robust. Never has there been anything like it, neither will anything follow to compare with it, even through the lifetime of generation upon generation."

Well we survived the night. No wind damage to our trees thus far, the power stayed on, and the creek across the road flooded but not over the road. There IS a lot of flooding all around us. There is flooding downtown that required a high water rescue in an intersection in the middle of the downtown business district. There are swift water rescue teams staying busy evacuating people from their homes including an entire apartment complex nearby where a swift water team is bringing people out in rafts. All the low lying campgrounds and homes along the little creek that runs through town are flooded out, and the main highway to Johnson City is closed. The rain is moving out but the gusts and damaging winds may continue throughout the day. The wind is howling right now and the trees are swaying. Probably about 30mph. At least in daylight we can see what his going on. It is very nerve wracking when the bad weather occurs in the dark.
You in CNY are going to see the severe weather today. I hope everyone stays safe and doesn't suffer any property damage. It is bad enough to be confined to the house, but to be confined without power or access to the outside news or social media would certainly exacerbate the symptoms of cabin fever and isolation.

Nothing major here yet. Some rain & a few wind gusts, but that's it. I spent a couple hours working on the mower out in the garage with the door open wearing just a hoodie, temps near 60 or so. The fresh air felt good. I bought some lawn fertilizer that I planned on laying down but it was raining pretty hard so it can wait. I was whipped anyway from horsing the mower deck back in place, etc. I need to get back in shape. Stay safe.

I sympathize with you when it comes to wrestling with the mower deck. Removing, servicing and reinstalling mine was a three day project. I wrangle it up onto a work table in my shop, scraped, wire brushed, and repainted the bottom of it. Getting it up on the table to work on it was a major project, scraping, priming and painting was enough work for the second day, and it took me over an hour to wrestle it back under the tractor and get it pinned back in place. I too was whipped when I was done. I don't know how old you are but I am getting too old for that sort of wrestling match, haha.

I'm 63. The deck is not that heavy but when it's laying on a concrete floor & pushing & pulling on it to get it in place it is. Lol. I ended up having to block it to raise it up to pin it. But it's done till next year. The grass ain't growing too much around here, it's too damn cold. The temp right now is 38*. Ugh!

I have to mow either today or tomorrow. It has been temperate but not terrible warm the last few days here. When it rains our lawn springs up so fast that you can almost watch it grow. I have said before that during the summer season I have to mow about every 4 to 5 days in order to keep the clippings under control. I don't know how repair shops go about reinstalling mower decks when they drop them for repair, but I too had to wrestle my deck back into place and used wood blocking to get it within range to where I could raise it the last inch or so and hold it with a tire iron and a wood block as a fulcrum while I got the pins in. I almost wonder if it would be easier to tip the tractor upside down and flop that deck up on there and pin it in place, haha.

I jacked it up & blocked it but the rear of the cable anchors up near the battery compartment where of course it's a tight fit & you need arms & hands the size of an infant to get up in there. Soooo, after fighting with it for an hour I finally had enough, blew a gasket & flipped the mower on it's side. I don't know how I did it but I did. Reached up & fastened the cable in a minute, & flipped the mower back down. I put a dent in the hood but it felt good! I never did hammer that dent out.

LOL! Sounds like you have the same amount of patience that I do. I can work patiently on something until a case like your cable comes up and then I lose it. I have to walk away before I start throwing tools or breaking something.
