Joe Diffie, a Grammy Award-winning country music hitmaker, died Sunday from coronavirus complications. He was 61. A representative for Diffie confirmed his death in a news release. The "Pickup Man" and "John Deere Green" singer announced Friday that he tested positive for the virus. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Diffie enjoyed a consistent run of country hits in the early 1990s. "Pickup Man" was among five chart-toppers he scored in the first half of the decade. Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning. He moved to Nashville in 1986, after losing his factory job in Oklahoma. "When I got laid off, I was like, ‘Well, you know what, I think I’m just going to try it,’” he told Bobby Bones in 2019. “I just loaded up everything I could get in this old beat up car I had, and off I went.” www.msn.com/en-us/music/news/joe-diffie-90s-country-hitmaker-and-opry-member-dies-from-coronavirus-complications-at-age-61/ar-BB11Ssk7

As sad as the news may be I have to wonder about all these well known names who are dying or becoming ill with the Covid19 virus. I have to imagine that they feel that they are immune to any suggestion that they isolate themselves like everybody else. Sports team owner, Joe Diffy, and several people in legislative posts, all of who would probably not contracted the virus if they had kept their asses away from others. They could surely work from home in today's world of online linking without being in the physical presence of fellow workers.
The only way that we are going to enforce the self quarantine and social distancing may end up being law enforcement arresting those ignorant and stupid people that simply ignore the problem and carry on. Hit them in the wallet with a heavy fine and they might actually begin to comprehend the importance of heeding the policies. "Here's your $500 ticket. Now carry your dumb ass home and STAY THERE."
Hit mom and dad with a $500 fine and you can bet your ass they will not be letting the kids play basketball at the local park or hang in groups at Walmart or on a street corner. Sometimes you just can't fix stupid, but you can certainly make it expensive enough to deter a lot of it.

We have a group of idiots in Utica & Rome playing basketball in city parks when their asses are supposed to be isolating. I think in Rome the mayor has ordered that the hoops be taken down. I don't know if Palmeiri has ordered the same. If I & others have to isolate then so should everyone else. I can just imagine what's going in in places like Kennedy Plaza which are nothing but drug dens.
