I was up and out at 7 am to buy a few groceries that we needed. I bought milk, a package of chicken thighs, some yogurt, and a few bags of frozen veggies and a package of frozen swai filets. Everything was fairly well stocked with the exception of pork. The case was almost bare. Plenty of beef, poultry and frozen seafood.
Spoke to a man stocking the milk case. He said that they are receiving a pretty fair quantity of most things and as the panic buying slows it is lasting most of the day, getting more limited as the day goes on, but arriving and available early in the day. We are lucky to have Food City's distribution center just up the road. I have heard that Kroger's is still plagued by empty shelves in many departments, and limited stocks in others. Walmart and Kroger seem to be hit the hardest with only getting limited stocks of many items rather than the full order.

Lots of shelves still empty at both Walmarts here. I don't know what is going on. I bought paper napkins at Price Rite yesterday.
Grocery stores here are having Senior shopping hours. BUT. I have no intention getting up at 5 AM to go out grocery shopping between 7AM and 8: 30 AM. I'll take my chances with my normal routine.

I normally rise at a fairly early hour although I DON'T normally rush out the door to the supermarket, haha. My normal sleep cycle is from about 11 or 12 to about 6:30 am most days. Probably because I have developed this habit of taking a siesta some afternoons for an hour in my chair, haha. Fortunately Food City in Blountville is only 3 or so miles down the road, and is less busy than the markets in the more densely populated parts of the area. Blountville is probably about the size of Holland Patent and is 3 or 4 miles from Bristol proper. We have a fairly well stocked freezer and the plan is to shop occasionally and limit the shopping to replenishing what we have eaten over a 4 or 5 day period. The senior shopping hours work for me. There were quite a few people in the store but not a crowd. The checkouts were all open to prevent long lines, and I used the dreaded self checkout and was out of there in no time without having to stand near anyone in a line. The little bottle of sanitizer that I used to keep in the truck now goes in my pocket and gets replenished every couple of days. My doctor said yesterday that a squirt about the size of a dime is more than plenty and to rub it into your hands for 10 or 15 seconds.

I remember several years ago I had to have a stress test done. The Doctor's office said I had to be there at 7:30 AM. I said no. They said that is the only hour we can work you in. So I said cancel then cause I do not get up to at least 10 AM. Never did have the test done.

I can set my alarm and get up earlier than my normal time if necessary.
Not much on our shopping list right now but my plan is that for the next trip we will use Chanantry's or Walmart's shop on line and pick up service.

With Walmart closing at 8:30 pm now, we'll be able to actually get more product on the shelves and have it stay there for a while. Now if they're stop threatening us with "you can't leave till you're done" shit, we'll all be able to lose some of the stress. My only question for those of us there is, "When will we get to shop"? I wonder if they'll have someone to check us out if we shop at the end of our shift? Most of us on that shift don't get up till late in the morning.

If you are waiting for Walmart to keep someone to cash you out at the end of your shift don't hold your breath. I don't think Walmart goes out of the way to accommodate their employees. You are simply tools to get a job done. Like machines.
I wish you guys had someone that IS up early that could shop for you. I picked up a couple of things for the younger couple across the street this morning when I shopped so that they wouldn't have to go to the store and mingle with crowed during the normal shopping hours. They aren't hoarding either. Cereal, milk, OJ and a bottle of ketchup was all they needed. Unless things change for the worse I will just continue to go every few days and pick up whatever we are needing at the time. No need for major grocery shopping.

Chanatry's wants my business they better start manning their cash registers. There's no excuse for expecting customers, many who are elderly to stand behind 30 customers ahead of them waiting to check out while a row of registers are sitting there collecting dust, unmanned.

Make a list of what you want to purchase and I will get the things and cash it out at self check out. I love Walmart....."Save Money, Live Better". If I was a manager their I would gather all my employees each day to recite that phrase. Or better yet sing it:
