When I can home this afternoon and opened my door I was hit with the acrid smell of cigarette smoke so think that I almost got sick to my stomach not to mention what it did to trigger my COPD symptoms. I opened my windows and headed directly over to the main office on Second Street. Try to find someone. The person who is in charge of my building is also in charge with the telephones at the main office on Second Street. I live on Bleecker St. I told her again that my apartment is still filled with smoke. Once again she said I will send security again ( he is a little pansy afraid of his own shadow and the guy who lives there has eyes filled with hate he is also Bosnian around 65). She said he wasn't home this morning when you called and security went over. I said right he doesn't answer the door and he has his disabled homeless father living there for a few days like he does every week on a rotating basis with someone else. I can hear their conversations through these thin walls.
So still nothing. I will call security again and late tonight I shall plaster signs that say; No Smoking HUD and MHA Order. with a note to call the office about the note. He hates notes on his door so this should set him off. I hope so.

Ever think of hiring a lawyer & suing MHA? With your COPD it sounds like you have a case.

Those HUD senior citizen apartments should just be non-smoking or at least have and isolated floor where there is extra exhaust ventilation. Nobody should be forced to be subjected to second hand tobacco smoke with all that is known about the dangers of exposure to it, and I smoked for 45 yrs. It is not uncommon for a large number of seniors to have diminished lung function as they grow older.

I have wondered if I have a case for a lawsuit. Clipper the new Federal and State law is that there is to be no smoking anywhere inside or within 25 feet outside of an apartment complex. They used to allow smoking in individual apartments only but that has also been stopped. No one follows the law and no way to enforce the law.
I called security again on his smoking. When security got here and told him smoking is not allowed he became wild screaming that he is not smoking. That proved my original idea HE IS VAPING. That is why I am getting this acrid, fruity, herbal smell in my apartment. He woke me up again at 4:45 AM this morning ( Thursday). To add another level to this I now know that apartment 509 where Rose lives is where the cigarette smoke comes from. So I get both: VAPING SMELL FROM 507 AND CIGARETTE SMOKE FROM 509. Pleasant isn't it.
Crazy. But at least I have a record.

www.wktv.com/content/news/Crews-battle-fire-at-Utica-apartment-complex-568921511.htmlHave you heard anymore about the fire at Academy Square PB. Is that the building that used to be a school? Could have been a mass disaster with a significant fire on the FIRST floor. It could have made evacuation difficult and spread upward a major concern. I wonder where they will shelter those who are affected. A serious disruption for seniors and I assume that the major portion of the residents are seniors.

No that fire was in the main building which is a newer building of two and three bedroom apartments. Maybe even 4 bed room. I would not doubt if it was cause by a cigarette like with the recent Brooks Apartment fire. Just watch. They get some really odd people living there. One has to be extremely low income to get an apartment. Worse than me and that would be bad. LOL

Are you off to take your daily bus trip around the horn? We do have to get out and quell any cabin fever. Just be careful and if you hear someone on the bus cough, open the emergency window and bail out.

I have got to get out of my apartment. I just can't stand the smell. I guess I can walk around Walmart for a few hours then hop on a Bus and go to the other Walmart and take a tour of that store. Mall is closed indoors so I am stuck. Plus it is raining. I'm screwed.
