Utica, N.Y. -- Oneida County has a second confirmed case of COVID-19, the illness caused by the novel coronavirus, County Executive Anthony Picente announced today.
In a news release, Picente offered no details of the second case. He will hold a briefing this afternoon.
Picente announced the county’s first confirmed case on Tuesday. That patient, he said, had returned from travel abroad on Thursday and has been in quarantine since Friday. Picente said the person showed symptoms after returning, but had limited contact with others before going into quarantine.
Picente declined to say where that person had traveled, whether the person was male or female, or what town the person lived in.
Picente said the county had been awaiting results of 34 tests as of Monday.
