We just got word that Kathy's younger brother passed away last evening from a massive heart attack. He was sitting at the kitchen table eating his supper and talking to his wife and just dropped over and died. His wife has also had a heart attack a year or so ago. She is now in the hospital with heart issues as a result of the trauma of losing her husband.

OMG what next. I can't take this. I had a student whose father did the same thing but only at breakfast. Face went right into his Wheaties. Poor kid all he could remember.

A similar thing happened with a ham radio friend of mine. He had a nuclear stress test in the morning and felt fine all day. Then at suppertime he suddenly keeled over and died. Quite a shock for the survivors when someone dies so quickly, but for the decedent the alternative of lingering for a long time with a debilitating disease is much worse. God bless Kathy's brother.

I have a fear of the chemical stress test since my recent episode. I was scheduled for one before I was in the hospital and they postponed it naturally, but I am sure that they will want to do another. They always have scared the crap out of me but now I am terrified. I am paying for all those years of neglecting my diet and not taking care of myself. I am hoping to get some sort of peace of mind and reassurance when I see my cardio doc on the 18th.
I am down 18lbs by simply eating right I am not starving but I am eating the right things and in a proper quantity. I miss the salty snacks most of all, and the sausage and eggs for breakfast, but I certainly am adjusting to a couple of eggs a week and no salt shaker or extra sodium. Two grams a day is quite a shock to someone that used to pour on the salt before I even tasted things.
I hope that cardiac rehab helps me get my strength back and get me back to being able to work in my garden and walk a reasonable distance without tiring my legs and getting me out of breath. I would like to be around for a few more years.
Talking to a relative of Kathy's in NY we heard that her brother had gotten very heavy again, and was not making any effort to avoid the chicken wings and junk food. He actually died eating a greasy fish sandwich from McDonald's. Very sad. A great guy that only retired a few short years ago after 30 plus years at Marcy Psychiatric Center. He was quite short and did not carry weight very well to begin with. His death is certainly a sad and shocking reminder of what I need to do to see a few more sunrises and trips around the sun.
Kathy and I are not coming home for the funeral. With Kathy's health, her heart, and neuropathy in her feet, she doesn't travel well, and the stress on HER heart of making a quick trip, attending a funeral and coming right back home is not something that she is up to. Talking to her nephews, they agree that for her to remember her brother upright and not laying in a casket is better for her overall wellbeing. She is doing better today and is on the phone right now with a second cousin, laughing and catching up.
A sunny day here and I see that it will be a pleasant day there also. Enjoy the good weather and have a good day.

Thank you everyone. We are praying for her sister in-law who is still in the hospital because she had chest pains during the entire ordeal. Hoping SHE will be okay. Beautiful sunny day here today. Kathy had to go for an xray of her back. It went up to 70 this afternoon.
