Trump & Cuomo had a meeting in the W.H. a few days ago. Right before the meeting Trump issued a veiled threat to Cuomo on Twitter in regards to legal action between N.Y. & Trump. Now after the meeting all of a sudden, voila! Federal grants to N.Y. for healthcare & this study are withdrawn. It's not too obvious what Trump is doing. 'Drop the legal action, or I'll punish N.Y.' Trump's not hurting Cuomo, he's sticking it to the people of this State. Which is not surprising considering his ruthless dictator mentality. Trump is pissed because he has to pay a $2 million dollar fine for ripping off his foundation, which was supposedly set up to assist kids with cancer, not for him to line his pockets. The lawsuit originated in N.Y.S.

2 million is a drop in the bucket for Trump. I doubt that it is the prospect of paying the money is of major concern to him. As for withholding funding and grants, it is not something unique to the Trump administration. We saw the same sort of withholding of funds here in the Southeastern red states under Obama because we didn't support his environmental over regulation, his healthcare debacle, and other items high on his agenda. He destroyed the sole livelihood of coal miners and the coal industry which is the ONLY means of employment in the coal fields of SW Virginia among other things.
We could get into a long and contentious debate that would not result in either of us changing our political views. Trump put or miners back to work. The environmental aspect needs to be addressed, but consideration needed to be addressed to provide alternative employment before throwing and entire region of the country in to destitution and poverty. Business, money, and influence have always been a part of it and probably always will.
