An Ark would be overkill

It has rained steadily since yesterday afternoon and is to continue through tomorrow with even heavier rains coming tonight and downpours tomorrow that could drop up to 2-3 inches. Small stream flooding is expected. 2-3 more inches on top of what we have received as a result of the 2 1/2 days of steady, non relenting drizzle will put the creeks and rivers over their banks and flooding will most likely occur

I would build and ark but it might be a bit of overkill for just two people and a small dog. I think maybe a moderately sized flat bottom boat might be more in line with our needs. A flat bottomed boat large enough to accommodate the camping trailer.

The dog didn't even want to go out to pee and I got wet just going to the end of the driveway for the newspaper. Had to carry the dog to the gate, drop her in the back yard and close the gate. She went about 10 feet from the gate, did her thing, and ran back to the gate. When I opened the gate she flew to the back door. Days like this I wish we had a door opening into the back yard. We have a front door and a side door. The fence runs between the back corner of the house and the front corner of the garage. I have to go about 15 feet from the side door to open the gate to the back yard. It sure would be nice to just open the door and put the dog out while wearing my robe and slippers instead of having to put on shoes and a coat.

I hate it when we get these rains that last for two or three days without a break. I get cabin fever when I can't get out and about and it is too damp to even go play in the woodshop. I really need to put a woodstove out there.

At least it isn't snow. I hope you all stay safe with the snowy and icy weather that is am reading about that should be with you tomorrow throughout the day.

Gonna be fun around here for the next few days. Three inches of snow tonight, rain & sleet for tomorrow then 6-9 inches of snow for Friday. Saturday high temps in the teens. But, I'm not complaining this has been an easy winter so far. When does Spring usually arrive in Tennessee?

Our spring usually arrives early in March although we sometimes have frost up into mid April or so. I have mowed the grass in late March before. Heck, it has been so unseasonably warm here lately the grass almost needs mowing NOW. I saw a couple of crocuses outside the side door the other day, and one day there was a single and lonesome dandelion that had blossomed along the edge of the pavers leading to the back yard. It was anemic looking and the blossom was only about the size of a dime.

We are expecting to go back to winter weather again in the next day or so, with it dropping to the 20's at night on Thursday night and snow in the higher elevations in the next day or two. I have only had to scrape the windshield once this winter. Normally any frost melts off the windows soon after daylight.

Still a steady rain here. Hasn't let up any since Tuesday. The little creek across the road is over the banks, and the water running down the road is about 3 or 4 inches deep now. I can't get to the mail box although the mail truck has already delivered. The cars don't slow down and they are throwing up a sheet of water 4 or 5 feet high that splashes half way up our driveway. Our newspaper tube is about 15 feet into the driveway and this morning's newspaper was water logged from cars laying up a sheet of water as they fly by.

There is a lot of small stream flooding. There is a water rescue going on right now over on the other side of town in one of the campgrounds where the water has gotten 3 or 4 feet deep and a family is trapped in their travel trailer.

I was reading about a fatal wreck on Rt 69 near the old county airport road, and a friend from Verona said he passed 7 different cars off the road on his way to work this morning. I hope you all stay safe up there in NY. We are now expected to get another 3 inches of rain before it stops. My calculations tell me that with that 3 inches we will have gotten 6 to 8 inches since Tuesday afternoon.

When I lived in Missouri way back when; spring would arrive end of Feb or early March. I remember painting the inside of our large pool at the athletic center around then and one year getting a sever sunburn on my back. Golly! When I was there never any snow but it did get cold in January but not enough to be wearing a winter coat. Of course I was in my young 20's then full of Franciscan life and lovin it and fit as a fiddle I was. Yes sir yee. That I see has all changed what with global warming/ weather shifts whatever ya wanna call it. But I miss it. Oh well back to Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Older lady fell today outside I wonder how she is heard tell she was on the ground almost 20 minutes unable to even move before anyone stopped.
