lite987.com/police-warn-of-highly-addictive-substance-hitting-streets-girl-scout-cookies/Just as with most other foodstuffs, Girl Scout cookies have fallen victim to the trend of decreasing the portion size contained in packaging. We used to buy several boxes of assorted cookies from the little girls that came door to door or those selling the cookies outside the grocery store. In recent years we have not been inclined to do so because you no longer get enough cookies in a box for MY money. We still buy a couple of boxes of thin mints simply to support the little girls, but we no longer buy 6 or 8 boxes of assorted varieties. I love the clever article by the Ravena NY police department. Kudos to them for giving the little girl's fund raising a boost. There ARE people that are addicted to those cookies. I watch the little girls that take orders at the bowling alley deliver the goods and people have box after box of the cookies piled on their table. I have seen people order 40 or 50 bucks worth. It is hard to resist a little girls sales pitch, and the cookies are like crack, but two boxes was my contribution to the cause this year.

That brought tears to my eyes! I wasn't until I was "cookie mom" one year that I learned Barb had been fibbing to me for years. Turns out the normal order is not $100 to ensure a year long supply. Like everything else the cost/cookie has gone up. We don't have a young lady "pusher" in the family anymore.

Name brand cookies in stores cost enough these days, let alone $5-6 for a little box. Glad we're not "addicted". lol
