When the cold weather returned last night it moved in quickly. We went bowling last night and when we went into the bowling alley it was 53 degrees. By the time we left it had dropped 30 degrees to freezing. I have been taking the dog out mornings with a flannel shirt on, and this morning I woke up to 21 degrees and it has only warmed to 26. Winter is back. It is only going to be in the 30's and 40's for the coming week or so with the possibility of snow flurries or a bit of sleet in the higher elevations over the next week.
It is winter and we expect changeable weather, but it is a bit of a shock to the old body when it drops 30 degrees in just a couple of hours.

Wow, it was only 15 degrees here this morning when I left to go to the doctor. It DID warm up to 41 thank goodness. I went to the orthopedist this morning to check the problem with my left leg. Thankfully it was NOT a ruptured Achilles tendon. It is a severe sprain in my calf muscle. No Velcro boot. Just take Nsaids and stay off it as much as possible for a week or so. He said I was lucky. If the Achilles tendon ruptures it usually requires surgery and 3 months of therapy and the boot. It is a big relief. It hurts to walk up a hill or steps, but it is much better than it was when it first hit me.

Yay. I woke up to 40 degrees this morning and it will be going to 50 later. It will be warm enough for me to go to the workshop and sand, re-glue, and clamp the rungs on the bottom of a couple of dining chairs that have been needing attention for a while now. I have gotten away with slathering them with glue and smacking them back into their holes a couple of times, only to see them pop back out later. Now it is time to clean them up and do it right.
We have been shopping for a new kitchen set for a while now, but haven't found anything that suits Kathy's fancy. The present set is over 30 yrs old. A solid maple set with 6 chairs and a matching hutch. Sadly, it is hard to find anything of that quality in stores now and if you do they want a couple of a couple thousand dollars for the table and chairs. She wants to keep the hutch so finding something to match is a problem.
I see it is going to be warmer there also. Enjoy those 40 degree temperatures while they last, and take comfort in knowing that spring weather will be there in another month and half or so.

To date, still no snow in Beaverton. On the average, overnite temps near freezing, daytime temps, mid to high 40's.
