I can still remember the day that we created the forum. We, the "core members" came from the OD's former chat forum that went by the wayside back then. That forum was a favorite place for many of us to discuss every issue from soup to nuts. I had not had a computer for long at that point and discovering that chat forum was a wonderful experience. A place where I could track and take part in discussion of current happenings in the area that I sorely missed when we first moved here to be nearer to, and to care for my mom and dad when I retired.
I was not wanting to lose track of many of us who had become acquainted on the OD forum, so I went on a quest to find a way to create a forum that would replace the OD site. I guess what we call the forum is what back then everyone called a "chat room." Thankfully Ralph came to the rescue with the suggestion that we use Pro-Boards as the platform, and that has worked very well for us. Of all involved in getting it off the ground, Ralph has been the mainstay of the forum from the very beginning, providing the technical expertise to set the entire thing up, create the format, and create everything that we see on the screen today. He still continues to quietly, behind the scenes, maintain, and fix any glitches or tech problems. For that I am forever grateful. The second member of the forum was a little gal named "Kim" from Clinton who had married and now lives in Greensboro NC. She brought experience and ideas that helped to form the forum. I still am friends with her and her husband and spent time with them when we were last in NY and they were camping on the same loop as we were. Then there is Bobbiez and Frankcor. I still see them every time we come home and BZ puts on a picnic for Ralph and Betty, Frank, and Kathy and I. Dave Griffin brought us the 50's and 60's local musicians, as did Jon Hynes and Dick Laurey. Too many names to mention have contributed to the success.
CB, you, Kit, PB, Dick Laurey, and several more have been here since the beginning and have watched the rise and fall. I was reading back on some of the topics and discussions from early on. Here is one that you posted in 2009.

Clipper,
This is one of those times when I feel bad for not saying "Thank you."
You & your able administrators have attracted a community that I look forward to visiting each morning. If you get "heavy handed" once every few thousand threads, I think I can live with that.
CB, and all the rest of the long time members who have stuck with it, it is I who needs to say THANK YOU for keeping it alive. While I take credit for originating the idea to create Clipper's Corner, I am also one of the one's that most contributed to taking it down a contentious politically nasty road that drove much of the membership to leave. It is dedicated members such as yourself that have kept it alive. I wish we could go back to those days.
So many on here that I have met, and so many that I consider friends. For those of us that are left here at the Corner, my only wish would be that we would see more interest in posting new threads and topics for discussion. I just hope that the day doesn't come when the forum dies and becomes a thing of the past, and we lose track of each other. With Kathy's health and mobility issues we don't get out as much in recent years, and I in turn spend an inordinate amount of time on line, but for those that DON'T have the time that I do, I hope that you will continue to stick it out, and hopefully will bring new discussion.
Have a wonderful day, thanks for being here and for being a part of it all. A special thanks to Ralph for all the hours he has put in, and continues to put in, to maintain and repair the page, and for his graphics work in keeping interesting banners at the top of the page.
