It is another gloomy and drizzly day here. I am extremely jealous of a couple we know that just posted photos of their cruise ship as they prepare to board for an 8 day cruise. Fort Lauderdale is sunny and warm and they are both in shorts as they unload their luggage from the car. Yesterday they were rubbing it in with bathing suit photos from the beach.
I guess I shouldn't complain. We are not getting any winter weather other than the little dusting of snow we had one day several weeks ago. Spring comes early here. Usually in March the grass greens up and the cold weather starts to taper off with days being in the 60's. Right now if it doesn't drop below freezing for a spell the grass is going to start growing again. It has started to green up again this last few days other than some rye grass that browns off in the winter.
I imagine that you are also enjoying your day in the high thirties and low forties. It has been a relatively mild winter there also. At least you don't have to shovel rain. Enjoy the mild weather while it lasts.

Boy, things sure went down hill as the day went on. I was out this morning with the dog and wore a flannel shirt. I was just out again about 1/2 hour ago and wore a winter coat. It was sleeting lightly and the wind was blowing about 20 mph. Brrrrr.

We're supposed to get an inch of snow overnight, right now it's raining lightly. I'd rather see some snow, at least it brightens up the landscape. Now, everything is brown & couple that with the fact that it's darker then Toby's ass by 5 o'clock it can get pretty darn depressing. Even the snowmobile riders are bummed because there's no snow on the trails. First day of spring is 76 days away.

I agree some snow would at least brighten things up. What a rainy winter so far. Gee! Plus I got a neighbor form hell. 5:00 AM this morning banging on the wall again.
At least CB is soakin up the warmth and sun shine. He can bring some back.

Florida is enticing, but, Florida = Hurricanes + Alligators + Giant Bugs.

I was stationed in Key West when I first went in the Navy. I could not live in Florida. Sticky hot most of the summer, hurricanes, and it rains pop up showers about every afternoon. Much like Vietnam. It is sweltering hot here at times in summer. Plenty hot enough for me.

All this cause he can't blast his music like a wild teenager.

Looks like time to catch everyone up.
We spent a day visiting Tarpon Springs. This is a center for fishing and sponge collecting and was home to many Greek immigrants. The Greek Orthodox Church was the largest I saw in the city. We had lunch in a café which had a menu very similar to Symeon's in Utica.
Then we drove to the Keys. The first day was spent in the Marathon Key area. Saw 3 Key deer on the key just south of Marathon (Big Pine?) They are about the size of a retriever.
Yesterday was Key West. Saw all the usual tourist things. Mile Marker 0 on US 1. Took photos at the southernmost point in the continental US. Tasted rum at the Hemmingway Distillery. Watched the sunset over the Gulf.
Today we returned north. Went on a fan boat ride in the Everglades. Watched a snoozing gator from an appropriate distance.
Tonight we are back at our home base in Tampa.

The keys are beautiful. I hope to get back there some day. I think it might have been Big Pine Key where a guy I was stationed with went swimming in a fresh water pond where a fairly tame alligator resided. He said there was a sign warning people to feed the gator donuts and under no circumstances to feed it meat because locals swam there.

I spent a few days in the Keys a few years ago. Five days in Islamorada & 5 in Key West. It was in March & temps were in the 80's the whole time. We flew back out of Miami in 80 degree weather, had a 2 hr. layover at the Pittsburg airport which was a pigsty. We touched down in Syracuse, 11 0'clock at night to temps in the teens. I'd love to go back, but not in the summer.

You aren't kidding about Pittsburg's airport being a pigsty. Hopefully they have improved on it and cleaned it up. I hated it when a lot of the flights out of Syracuse changed planes there. It may have been earlier than I remember and might have been the flights out of Oneida County that connected there.

Lazy day today. We spent most of it at the beach watching waves and seagulls.
