I spent the day today running around doing errands for and helping friends who are temporarily disabled.
This morning was dedicated to finding a knee scooter for a friend that has a broken bone in his lower leg that requires that he wear a non-weight bearing cast for at least 3-4 weeks or more before he can have a walking cast. My neighbor Terry had one but it was in his warehouse in Piney Flats. He is in the antique business and has booths in several antique malls around the area. He has a warehouse where he repairs and stores furniture and goods. I picked up the scooter, brought it home, cleaned it up and took it to my friend in Kingsport that needed it. The damned things are about $200 or $45-$50 a week to rent. His insurance doesn't cover it. Terry loaned it to my friend. No charge.
I had to stop at the store for a couple of things for Kathy and then had to go 20 miles in the opposite direction to do some grocery shopping for a friend that had his knee replaced yesterday and needed some groceries and a couple of prescriptions picked up. That pretty much consumed the afternoon.
I just had a big bowl of home made bean soup, made with the leftover ham and the ham bone from Christmas dinner. I think now that it is time to climb into my recliner and maybe check my eyelids for pin holes until Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy come on.

Like PB I'm getting bored & there's 3 more months of winter at least. I'm even thinking of painting the living room & bathroom ceiling. They could use a fresh paint job but if there's one thing I hate doing is paint a ceiling.

We had new lights installed in our kitchen. It meant taking down a few drop ceiling tiles so the new LED Round fixture could be installed. I was watching since I am convinced these janitors do not know what they are doing around here. When the job was finished there was a 2 inch gab where they cut two drop down tiles so it meant there now was this opening the length of the ceiling. I said to them look you need to put in a new tile so as to close the gap created. He said ( now wait for this) oh we will just move each tile up toward the center. So they did it. I looked and started laughing and said now the opening runs the length of the ceiling and back wall. He said we can't fix that just don't look up!!!!!!!!!!! Three months later after complaining daily maintanence placed two new tiles in the drop down ceiling.
So a month later this original guy who installed the LED Fixture comes around and asks me if I wanted my ceiling in the kitchen painted. I SAID NOPE I NEVER LOOK UP!!!!!!

At one time Barb and I were quite efficient at painting walls and ceilings. in recent years ceilings have become a real pain in the neck and shoulders. For the last couple rooms, Barb got a young guy from the hospital who had a side gig as a painter. We bought the paint and prepped the room. He came after work and did the ceilings. I think Barb paid cash, I didn't ask. The best part was I could move my head the next day.
Since Barb retired we have painted every room in this house: 5 bedrooms, living room, dining room. The kitchen has mostly cabinets, little wall area. The halls don't have a lot of area but much edging. The den has no painted walls, my favorite room.

I am with PB. We seldom look up at the ceiling either. Kathy and I painted the walls and ceilings when we moved into this house in 2002. We have painted the walls once since then. We don't smoke so we have never bothered with the ceilings other than in the kitchen where we have painted the ceiling once about 5 yrs ago. Kathy has a friend that does house cleaning for people for a fee. We have her wash the walls and ceiling in the kitchen every couple of years. We use the range hood whenever we cook to avoid most of the steam and grease vapor accumulation.
We don't work from ladders anymore.

Our first house had been owned by two heavy smokers. When Barb first washed the walls, the water ran down brown. We spent 2 years cleaning and painting, then flipped it for something better.

It's dark. Bugs started coming out. My wife, sister and brother-in-law are watching TV. I'm catching up.
