It was suppose to go to nearly 70 today. It actually broke a record set in 1954 and went up to 74 this afternoon. I took the pup to the dog park and let her run with the other mutts for about a half an hour while I chatted with another fellow that was sitting on a bench enjoying the sunshine.

You and the doggie are lucky. I hate, hate, hate this winter weather up here. I'm so bored. How I loved to go walking after my evening meal. Even a ramp in a dog park would be fun...................

PB, you can always hop on a bus to Sangertown & stroll the mall. There's a few retirees who do that every day. It will get you out of the house, you're out of the weather & nobody will bother you. Grab a cup of joe, maybe a bite to eat & you won't be bored. The mall use to open the doors early for mall walkers, not sure if they still do. Walking is the best exercise.....

My ex father in-law used to get up every morning and meet a group of codgers for a couple of miles of mall walking followed by coffee from McDonalds and a session dedicated to solving all the world's problems. I think the mall opened at 7 or 7:30 back then. He passed away a few years ago.

I miss the old YMCA on Genesee St. A few years ago when I was doing seasonal work I'd join there for the winter & get a membership for like $10/month. They had an indoor running track, full weight room, Nautilus & even a basketball court. I'd spend a couple hours a day in there killing time & working out. Sadly the Y was forced out by the powers that be around here after having a presence in this city for over 100 years. Lousy Utica politics was all it was.

Right now @1500 it's 47* & sunny. Warm enough for me to go outside & take down the Xmas lights. Walked out thru the backyard & noticed some fresh dirt clumps on top of the lawn & what looks like tunneling going on underneath. Sure enough, I have moles. I had those suckers destroying my lawn 3-4 years ago before I finally got rid of them. If I don't have any mole killer I'll have to order some off ebay. The only stuff that actually works is banned in N.Y.

BHU when I was living in Missouri we had Moles on the House of Studies property. We also had the police dog that was retired and given to us. He loved to hunt moles. He would patiently follow one with his nose to the ground until the little thing would pop out of a hole and then he would grab it toss it in the air catch it with his mouth then crunch it dead with his back molars. What a sight to see.
