I know Mike personally and if he it is so, it is. He is very forthright and honest. He did an excellant job running the Mohawk Valley Police academy.

the accredidation helps bring in state and federal grant moneys this could pose a problem down the lline, sounds like Pylman knewe his days were numbered and sabotaged the process.

Pylman duped Julian and the dumbasses that pandered to him. He was far from stupid, and simply nested in our city budget, while he filled his retirement bank account at our cost.
No person can detract from his law enforcement knowledge, but his arrogance is intolerable, and I lost whatever respect I may have had for him, when he did not live up to expectations as chief of our city department. I truly believe that the answer to decreasing crime in the city is a true blend of agencies in a task force of sheriff deputies, troopers and city police officers, all working together, and minimizing the possibilities of corruption or misdeeds. There is integrity in such an alliance, as well as a blending of expertise and resources.
I hope that the city is successful in achieving the goal of meeting requirements for accreditation soon. The problem of losing grants and federal monies is very real, and could have a serious impact on the resources available to our officers and citizens alike.

Does accreditation mean they can't perform pellet-gun interrogations any more? That may be the real motive behind letting it lapse.

Interesting question. I understood it that the police department will now lose out on a lot of grant money.

Keep in mind that accreditation is a lot of work and something you have to keep on top of all the time, not just "set it and forget it". Tim Dundon was the driving force behind putting it all together. Once he left it was all downhill from there.

That's so often the case with grant-funded programs -- once the champion moves on, the program dies.
