www.wjhl.com/news/elementary-school-adds-security-with-bulletproof-glass-creates-unique-learning-space/Very sad indeed that we are seeing bullet proof vestibules installed at local elementary schools. the security measures that are becoming necessary in our schools rival the measures taken at the entrance to some military facilities where classified work is being done or weapons are stored. It is sad to see, but comforting to parents, knowing that the extra protection is there to protect their children I would hope that resource officers in the schools are authorized to shoot and kill anyone that displays a gun in a school, no questions asked, and with no repercussions. There should be no questions as to the intent of a person pulling out a gun in a school. Pull out a gun in a school hallway and prepare to be shot and killed by a police officer, end of story. We actually had an incident in a local high school here several years ago where a resource officer name Carolyn Gudger shot and killed a demented individual that had gotten into the school and was a serious threat to the safety of the students. Sadly after all attempts to get him to drop the weapon failed, he pointed it a the officer and she shot and killed him. She only recently was given an award for her heroism. No telling how many lives he might have taken if the bell and rang and the halls had filled with students before he was detected and confronted.
