I am going to start the day at 9am with a free haircut at Great Clips and breakfast at IHOP. We haven't decided yet whether we will take advantage of any of the free dinner offers available. They range from a full free buffet at Golden Corral to a free pepperoni pizza from Little Caesar's. It is not so much about seeking recognition. It is about A FREE MEAL AND FREE HAIRCUT, lol, and about an opportunity to share some time with fellow veterans and to recognize them for THEIR service.
We have coffee and donuts at the DAV chapter on Wednesday mornings. It gives some guys a place to get together and socialize without hanging over a bar with a juke box banging away. It also gives us a chance to hear the needs of other guys that may need a ride to an appointment when the chapter's mini-bus and van are busy with veterans from 30 or 40 miles away. I help if the person is able bodied enough to climb into my 4x4 pickup. I am not able to help a person confined to a wheelchair.
The chapter helped me file my disability claim and helped me to get a small VA disability pension. I am glad that I am able to repay that by helping someone else when I can, and it gives me a chance to spend time with other veterans.
I hope everyone enjoys the day. I am heading out to get a haircut.

The DAV did donuts this morning instead of Wednesday, and when I got to Great Cuts for my haircut they had donuts, candy cheese and crackers, summer sausage and sliced pepperoni, Little Debbie snack cakes, and a huge veggie tray with ranch dressing to dip them in. I was there early and went right to a chair, but while I was getting my haircut, several others showed up. They didn't care if it took an hour. They grabbed paper plates and started noshing on the goodies.
Kathy doesn't feel like going out so I am going to Golden Corral for free buffet. They have gotten high with their prices so we don't go as often as we used to, but you simply cannot beat FREE! haha.

I had Little Ceaser's once & it was barely edible. But then again I'm comparing them to O'scunizzo or Rosario's which are my two favs. Glad to hear you had a good Vets Day.

I think most Uticans find chain pizzas unacceptable. We usually use Tony's.

I don't like pizza. Seems hard to believe but I don't especially after this diet I follow. I feel better with out it. I did buy a cauliflower crust and made a pizza with it. Took only slice and threw the rest away. Blah.
Glad you got you full this Veterans Day, Clipper. In Utica the Comets Hockey Team had a special game at 3 PM today. I saw many Vets on their way to the Aud when I passed by on the Bus. They all got in free for the game.

I don't care for Little Caesers either BHU, but at one time I did like their pizza. When I was TDY to Oklahoma City to work at our headquarters at Tinker AFB I ordered pizza from there one night and had it delivered to the officer's quarters because I staying in and doing some paperwork in my room. I was surprised when it arrived on a long sheet of cardboard ensconced in a long wax paper bag, and there was two pizzas. That is where their slogan "pizza pizza" Came from. You used to get two pizzas for the price of one. At that time it was decent. Comparable to Pizza Hut anyway, although that is not saying much. That was in the 80's.

10 years ago I ordered at pizza at O'scunizzo for delivery. It was almost two hours late and cold and hard as a rock. I threw it away. Never again.
