It is going to go back down to 30 or lower tonight again. I just came in from winterizing the camping trailer. I use an air compressor to blow the water out of all of the plumbing fixtures. Some people do that and call it a day. I do that and then still get extra insurance by pumping RV antifreeze through the system until all the lines and p-traps are full of antifreeze.
It is the end to a busy day. I did the first of the month grocery shopping. $200 later the larder is full for the month except for incidentals. We are loving the new upright freezer. I put about 80 bucks worth of meat and frozen veggies in there today, plus a 12 lb Butterball for Thanksgiving. They were on sale for $1.99 lb.
Next stop after shopping and bringing home the groceries was to head for the bowling alley to watch the PBA pros practice for the PBA professional tournament that is going on tomorrow and Sunday. I shook the hand of my favorite Hall of Famer Walter Ray Williams and saw 6 or 7 other famous pro's along with lesser-known names and local high average bowlers that have a PBA card. There are 75 pro's in town for the tourney. The parking lot was full of 4 and 5 hundred thousand dollar motor homes. Who says you can't make a buck throwing a bowling ball, haha. Going to spend the Saturday and Sunday watching the elimination rounds, ending with the finals on Sunday.
I hope the waters have receded up there. My prayers have been with all those that got flooded out in Dolgeville and for the priest that was washed a way and drowned North of Newport NY near Norway NY.

Supposed to be chilly this week. Nice change in my routine today. Usually I drink my first coffee while reading the paper. Then I make breakfast and have another coffee. Today my son came and made breakfast for me and the boys. Now they are out raking the leave. I could get used to this.

We got a dusting of snow last night and it was around 36 or so when I got up. That was the high for the day. The temperature is suppose to drop all day long and tonight it is expected to drop to record breaking 13 degrees. The record is 19 degrees and it was set in 1968. There was a bit more snow in the mountains and some of the areas to our North and West. I guess there were cars off the road all over SW Virginia. People here just don't know how to drive when there is even a dusting of snow.
Has it gotten bad there yet?

Here we got some snow but mostly it melted immediately when it hit the roads. There was maybe 2" when I got up this morning. Overcast and windy today which make it feel cold. I managed to lose my first glove of the season yesterday.

What little snow we got has not melted due to the low temperatures. We were fortunate that it was cold enough when it snowed to prevent the snow from being heavy and wet. The roads were cold enough to prevent any slippery road conditions. Last night on the way home from bowling it was snowing lightly but the roads were dry and the snow would swirl up behind you as you drove, leaving the road dry and bare.
It is only 17 degrees here right now, and only going to around 40 but that is an improvement over yesterday when it never got above freezing. A few more days of this cold and we are expected to go back to normal with daytime temperatures in the 50s and night time lows in the 30s.
CB you are not alone when it comes to losing a glove. I buy those gray leather work gloves with the cuff to wear when I am working around the yard. I always wear gloves when filling the gas cans at the gas station so that I don't get any gasoline on my hands. Just the other day I filled a gas can and laid my gloves on top of the tonneau cover on the truck while I went in to pay for my gas. I drove off with them laying on the back of the truck and lost them somewhere along the road. Thankfully I buy them for 2/$5 at Lowes and always have a couple of extra pairs at the ready. I have a good pair of insulated ski gloves and a pair of black leather dress gloves lined with faux fur that have seldom seen service since we moved here. When I was a kid we had a box of gloves and mittens by the back door. No matter how many pairs of mittens we got, we always managed to lose one and when we went sliding or playing outside, we often just grabbed a pair of the odd mismatched mittens from the box.

Was 7 degrees when I got up at 9 AM I had to put the heat up to 73 degrees to heat the place up. May have to open a window in a little while to coll things down a little or just throw on the air conditioning.

Yesterday I dug out my down jacket. Did my best to match up gloves. Today I am dressed on full on winter mode, four layers on my upper body and that is indoors! Just can't seem to get warm. I have my laptop on my lap. I may leave it there even when I quit using it just for the heat.

Do you take a blood thinner CB? Kathy and I are always cold too. It started when we began taking Eliquis. Scientifically I don't know if thinner blood really makes that much difference in how quickly a person becomes chilled in an inside the house, controlled environment or not, but it seems that we both end up in long sleeved shirts in the evening, even when we have the heat set on 72 degrees.
It has warmed up to 36 balmy degrees so I will get dressed in my warm clothes and venture out to the dreaded Walmart for Ocean Spray cranberries and then on to Aldi's for a few sale items, a new roasting pan with a rack, and ingredients for a cheesecake. I have exhausted all other sources for Ocean Spray cranberries. Other stores only have an off brand. Kathy wants the Ocean Spray berries because there is a recipe on the bag for a cranberry bread that she wants to try. Wish me luck as I wander among the strangely dressed and unwashed masses to get a bag of cranberries. I will go in the front door, directly to the produce department, and then to a self scanner and then run for the exit. Of course I will walk right by the disputed receipt scanning individual at the door, just to see if they try to stop me.

Not on blood thinners. I do take a low dose aspirin daily. I did lose a lot of body fat a few years ago and at 72 muscle mass is much lower so I generate less heat.
Good luck at Walmart.

Hey Walmart in New Hartford put in those new security gates. I laughed as some people were trying to exit the entrance. The alarm is very alarming. People the only way out is through a cashier or through self check out.
