A quick and easy to prepare slow cooker supper. A friend recently brought this dish to a covered dish served at a bowling tournament. It is a supper meal that is easy to prepare and only takes an hour or so in the crockpot. You slice about 1 1/2 pounds of kielbasa into medallions and quickly cook them in a skillet with a little butter. Open two cans of your favorite Bush's Pork and Beans and pour them in a crockpot with half of a medium-sized onion finely diced. I add 1/4 cup of Sweet Baby Ray's honey BBQ sauce, add the keilbasa, place the crockpot on high and cook for about an hour to and hour and a half.
When I was in the military I loved beans and weiners. I have eaten them as a quick lunch or supper ever since. Kathy and I often have a very simple supper. Our menu varies from a simple sandwich to a full dinner. We sometimes eat a breakfast style meal for supper, and we often have soup or chili and a green salad. The addition of kielbasa in place of the hot dogs makes it a bit smokier tasting and substantial.
The air fryer has made suppers even more simple. Last night we had a sandwich made with an air fried frozen chicken patty on a toasted roll with lettuce tomato and mayo, accompanied by a macaroni salad and some steam in the bag green beans. She made the salad the day before and the chicken cooked in the air fryer in 10 minutes at 400 degrees. We both had a case of the lazys so we actually ate it off of paper plates. She had been busy most of the day with laundry and changing the bed linens. I was tired from spending three hours on the tractor mulching leaves and taking them across the road to the compost heap. I no more than put the tractor away when a breeze came up and a whole new batch came fluttering down, haha. I will be playing that game for probably another month before the trees will be bare. We both wanted to have a simple supper and be in our chairs in time for Wheel of Fortune with little fuss or muss.
