cnycentral.com/news/local/many-areas-will-be-at-risk-for-the-seasons-first-frost-by-saturday-morningWhile upstate NY returns to a normal range of temperatures and some frost possible, we are finally going to get a break from the absolutely oppressive heat and lack of rain. Next week finally will possibly bring us some much needed rain, and the temperatures, while not as cool as is normal for this time of year, at least it will drop back to the 70's and the extreme heat and humidity will go away. It was 93 here yesterday afternoon and so humid that I was sweating just standing still at the gate to the back yard while the dog did her business. You could cut the air with a knife it was so humid. I can't wait for those cool mornings when I will have to wear a flannel shirt of light jacket to go out early in the day.

Come back to good ol' upstate NY, Clipper. You'll get your 'cool' mornings, and your dog will prefer doing her business in the house.

I always loved fall in upstate NY. The frosty mornings in the woods during deer season were my favorites. Breathing the fresh cool air and as the morning went on, shedding layers of warm hunting clothes until by noon I was hunting in a red chamois shirt and blaze orange cap. Another fall treat was visiting Fly Creek cider mill for cider and to purchase donuts and other items from their store. I always took a week off for the beginning of southern tier deer season and was in the woods at sunrise. With 6 weeks of vacation I always allotted a week for the opening of deer season, a couple days for opening of trout season, and another week in spring for the opening of walleye season.
Now that I have aged and moved South, I imagine that I would find myself bundled to the max and huddling behind a tree if I were in the woods in NY on a frosty morning. The first light snow that a hunter looked forward to as an aid to tracking deer would send me scurrying for the indoors and a warm fire. LOL

It is cold today up here Clipper. Right now at 10 AM it is 48 degrees with a 11 MPH wind so it feels like 43 degrees. I will wear my winter coat today.

With the breeze I would definitely be wearing a coat and probably a wool stocking camp to boot, but you still have some beautiful and crisp fall days coming before winter sets in. It is going in the 90's again here today. Looking forward to the weekend when it begins to transition to a more normal temperature range for the season.

I had to get my leather jacket when I went out this morning. Cold and rainy.

It was in the 90's again this afternoon and humid as hell, but it is supposed to start moderating over the weekend thank goodness. The heat is bad enough but coupled with the humidity it is unbearable.

I sure was cold at the Bus stop this afternoon. I never wait there in the morning except if it is a Doctor's appointment and even then never before 10:30 AM.
