It would cause a neighborhood ruckus such as the story of the muslim community that wanted to prevent a local diner from cooking bacon because they were offended by the smell of cooking bacon that was wafting from his exhaust fans. That soup needs a large head of cabbage, chopped up along with a couple of large onions, diced. It reminds me of a story I once heard about a diner owner that would cook down and render bacon in water, refrigerate the water, and take the fat off to use to cook with and then would use the spent bacon and the cooking water to cook green beans. Not exactly a healthy broth recommended for anyone on a low sodium diet to cook their veggies in. I keep rendered bacon grease from cooking bacon and use it to fry eggs in, but I can't imagine the sodium overload that such a broth would contain. I love the flavor of bacon and always use a few strips cut up and put in a pan with cabbage along with a cup of chicken broth to cook cabbage, but I wouldn't drink the broth afterward.
