Retired NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. was taken to the Johnson City Medical Center for minor injuries according to Carter County Sheriff Dexter Lunceford.
Earnhardt’s injuries were described as just cuts and abrasions.
The sheriff said Earnhardt’s wife and child were also on the plane, along with a pilot, one other passenger, and a family dog.
Kelly Earnhardt tweeted that “everyone is safe and has been taken to the hospital for further evaluation.”
A tragedy averted for the NASCAR world. Dale's private jet crashed at Elizabethton airport, about 15 miles from here. When the drivers fly in for races at Bristol, the private jets land at Elizabethton Tn. and Highlands Airport just to the North of Bristol, as well as at our Tri_Cities airport.
25 years ago another famous driver crashed coming to Bristol and was killed. That plane crashed just over the hill from out house, about 1/2 mile from the house. My sister could see the wreckage from her window.
Thank goodness Dale Jr and his family are all safe with only minor injuries.
