My church St Stanislaus has their festival today and tomorrow and Saturday and Sunday our Park Ave Fest starts Sat & Sun. So filling up on my favorite Polish food tonight and festival food on Sunday. (Fried dough and a sausage sanwich). Maybe ‘ll find a new craft to buy.

Have fun. I went to Mount Carmel Feast also St Anthony's Feast. Nest up is Historic St John's. I also hit up Sacred Heart of Jesus-Holy Cross Polish National Catholic Church, New York Mills, New York. Lots of good Polish food there. www.sacredheartofjesus-holycrosspncc.com/All the wood in that Church was hand carved by the Priest. He is also a sculptor and does wonderful work with wood.

St. John's church is nice, but, I was very sad when they tore down St. Patrick's church, which was located across the street from St. John's. It was a very beautiful church. I was baptized there.

Aren't you thinking of St Joseph's that was across the street from St. Patrick's. Utica has some beautiful churches, the old ones are so ornate and pretty inside and even the newer ones are pretty inside. I was at a funeral a few years ago at Our Lady of Lourdes on Genesse St. It was so bright and the acoustics were so much better than some of the older churches.

Clip you are correct! It was St. Joseph's church. My memory is slowly fading away! I used to buy a lot of stuff from the army surplus store that used to be on one of those 4 (or 5?) corners, way back in the 50's, so, I should have remembered St. Joseph's, across the way.

Gee Dick, I had forgotten about the army surplus store. I bought a knapsack and a surplus army canteen there when I was a teen. Had big ideas about climbing mountains while the family was on our occasional camping trips. That fizzled after climbing only Bald Mountain while camped at Limekiln, and Blue Mountain while camped at Lake Durant. I found that I was no Sir Edmund Hillary and that mountain climbing was not my cup of tea. While on the subject of festivals, I was just reading on the 98.7 radio page that there is going to be a pierogi eating contest at the Polish Community Club on the 17th. For 10 bucks a person will receive a platter with 36 pierogis on it. I love pierogis. I would pay $10 just for the opportunity to eat all the pierogi I could hold. I wonder if a person could request a doggie bag to take home the left overs?
