www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/how-a-retired-couple-won-millions-using-a-lottery-loophole/vi-AACD6GLAn interesting story about a humble small town convenience store owner that unraveled what one would think would be a complicated formula used by the lottery folks to create the odds that favor the state. A simple man living a simple life who had a mind for numbers and arithmetic discovered a relatively simple loophole that allowed him to build a successful "business" out of playing a lotto game.

I can't win on $1 and $5 tickets so I darned sure would not be investing a significant amount on the gamble that it would pay me a dividend. lol

A older guy in my building won a few thousands last week in one the the lotteries. Now technically he has to report that and his rent will go up since his income went up more than $100. Of course once he spends it his income will go down and his rent will have to be re-adjusted to reflect that lower figure. Crazy isn't it. My rent went up again because I took advantage of ordering a 90 day supply instead of a 30 day supply of my medications. My Prescription Drug Company insisted since it would save me money which is did. When I went to the pharmacy to pick up my medication expenses for the past year I looked and said: Oh great I actually saved almost $200. So now the rent goes up because I have extra money in my pocket and they want it. I am going back on the 30 day supply just to screw with them.

A friend of Kathy's recently hit 35K on a scratch ticket. Not hard to take. She wins fairly often but she buys 20 and 30 dollar tickets. I am not that big of a gambler. If I paid 20 bucks for a ticket and got nothing in return I would be rather depressed.

I am always tight with money and I never win even if I do play now and then so losing $1.00 or $2.00 is depressing!

I won $100. on a scratch off & that was 10 years ago. That's the most I've ever won. Once in a while I'll drop $20 on a ticket. Drop is right because i never win. Lol

My older son (the one with a PhD) says that the lottery is a tax on stupid people.
My younger daughter once reported to me that the former comptroller of HDC was a regular purchaser of Lotto tickets. That would have worried me if I had known it when we worked there.
I learned many years ago that I am a horrible poker player. I can do the math but apparently my face is very easy to read. I don't object to people spending money on entertainment but I would rather spend my money on a dinner with Barb.
