I would hope that the driver of that car was caught and arrested. What the hell is the matter with people? Too many people today are driving with their head either up their ass or focused on a cell phone screen. True justice for passing a stopped school bus would be for the cop to drag them from their car and slap the crap out of them to get their attention, and then to cuff them and take them to jail. A Traffic ticket just isn't enough. I guess it just doesn't matter to those people as long as it isn't THEIR kid stepping down from the bus or crossing the road in front of it.

I have a friend who drives school bus part time. He also owns a gun shop and hunts big game. I think there have been times when he has been tempted to pack his Mossberg shotgun while driving.
I try to time my trips so I am not driving through my neighborhood during school bus times. Makes my life simpler.

Yep. I know a fellow here that drives a school bus for a rural district in SW Virginia. He says every single day, without exception, at least one car, and usually more, pass his stopped bus while the warning lights are activated and the stop sign is extended. It is bad enough in his area that they actually have had an unmarked sheriff's vehicle follow behind the bus fairly often in areas where it happens most and it hasn't had hardly any impact on the problem at all.

As a teacher I did Bus duty for a few years. It involved being outside where the Buses pulled in morning and evening. You wouldn't believe how many times I had to yell at parents for pulling in front of a Bus so they could be the first in line to pick up their child on rainy, snowy and very cold days. Never had a problem with the kids but parents and others who either pick up or drop off wow.
