I think it is a sad reality is that the democrats hate our president so much that I actually believe that they orchestrated and scheduled this appearance by Cohen to coincide with President Trump's meeting with Kim. I also have little doubt that his testimony was a scripted and a surreptitious effort influenced and coordinated with democratic members of the committee. That is simply a personal opinion. They also set aside their own rules by refusing to reschedule the hearing so that the committee members could have a chance to better review the evidence submitted much later than the prescribed 24 hours previous to the hearing.
Think what you will about Donald Trump, but I find it disgusting that they found partisan bullshit so important as to take attention away from Trump's efforts to achieve peace and disarmament on the Korean peninsula. It may be happening in baby steps, but in my opinion the simple matter that tensions have eased somewhat between North and South Korea is a major milestone, and the president's ongoing efforts are laudable and the accomplishments are certainly worthy of praise and recognition.
I don't personally like Trump the man, but I respect SOME of his efforts and accomplishments. I don't expect Democrats to wear MAGA hats or wave Trump flags on the capitol steps. I expect Democrats, as well as Republicans in congress to simply focus their efforts on the job we elected them to do instead of focusing their efforts 24/7/365 on taking down the elected president, whether they agree with him, like him, or not. Yep, I voted for him. I don't disagree that Donald Trump IS a liar, IS an adulterer, and IS and unscrupulous business man. I didn't vote to canonize him as "saint Donald the magnificent." I voted for him because the democrats fielded a candidate that I found even MORE unscrupulous and corrupt.
It is not up to Donald Trump to "make America great again." It is up to all of us as Americans, including politicians, to work toward a COMMON goal, and to set aside the vindictive infighting long enough to move forward as a nation united. I am sick of Trump's fake news comments. I am sick of Trumps incessant tweeting without forethought or any thought at all. I am even more sick of media leading off every news program with anti-Trump rhetoric, and negativity. I am sick of seeing Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer's faces behind podiums with no other mission in life than to unseat the President of the United States. The obstructionist bull crap is as disgusting as Trumps bombastic and egotistical ramblings. I personally can hardly wait to see the 2020 election roll around. I don't know if we can heal the ridiculous cycle that has seen one administration dead set on undoing everything the previous administration did, and the opposing party dead set on obstructing anything the present administration attempts to accomplish. How do we get beyond that and move on to focus on "doing" instead of "undoing?" I guess that we all sometimes need to vent our frustrations, and this morning I was very frustrated by the ongoing focus on the Cohen testimony. My REAL desire is for at least some of the discord to be set aside long enough to move the country in a direction that has preserved our status as the greatest nation in the world for so many years. To move us back to a nation united once again, rather than the ominous and dangerously divided place where we now live.

Did you read this: Joe Scarborough : "Republican members of the House Oversight Committee exposed themselves in plain sight...in plain sight...as a political party whose goal, whose purpose and whose central organizing principle...is to cover up for the illegal and immoral misdeeds of Donald J. Trump."

Yes PB. I try to read both sides of any story and Morning Joe is one of the cable outlets sources that I have book marked and read daily. Scarborough's comments and opinion simply reinforce what I said in MY comments. We live in a nation divided. Of course the committee is divided and one can opine as to the motives and agenda of EITHER party. Yes, I am inclined to agree that the republicans are rabidly devoted to defending the president. That is what politicians of the party of the sitting president are expected to do. Partisan loyalty is not a bad thing. I agree that the democrats are free to pursue their own agenda. I simply do not happen to agree with many of the points contained in their present agenda and seldom agree with Joe's opinion or his wife's. www.politicususa.com/2019/02/28/scarborough-slams-shameless-gop-for-covering-up-trumps-crimes.html I did however agree with Joe's opinion of Trumps walking away from the N Korean summit. thehill.com/homenews/media/431993-scarborough-praises-trump-for-walking-away-from-north-korea-talksOne of the wonderful things about living in this country is our freedom to opine. I hope that freedom is never restricted. It is much of what makes living in a democratic republic such a blessing. It IS one of the key freedoms that make this nation both a democracy as well as a republic, and it is also one of the reasons that regardless of what my own personal opinion may be, I like to read a balanced mixture of opinions from both sides of an issue.

How House Republicans missed their chances to stick it to Michael Cohen – and defend Trump At several key junctures Wednesday, Republicans missed opportunities to defend President Trump from some of the most damning claims Michael Cohen made about him. In other instances, potentially damning new information about the president was revealed by Cohen, and that new information went unchallenged by Republicans. The cumulative effect was that by day's end, Trump, who was in Vietnam meeting North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, was left looking both more legally and personally exposed than he had Wednesday morning. WASHINGTON – At several key junctures Wednesday during former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen's testimony before a House committee, congressional Republicans appeared to miss opportunities to defend the president from some of the most potentially damning claims Cohen made about him. In other instances, when new information about the president was revealed during exchanges Cohen had with sympathetic Democrats on the committee, it went unchallenged by Republicans, who quickly moved on to other topics, or else revisited well-trodden subject matter. The cumulative effect over the seven-plus hours of Cohen's testimony was that Trump, who was in Vietnam meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, was left looking both legally and personally exposed – without a vigorous defense from members of his party who have traditionally gone to bat for him in public. nstead of using their time to defend Trump or challenge Cohen's more shocking claims, the lion's share of time allotted to Republicans during the Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing was used to attack Cohen's credibility as a witness. "There's no truth with you whatsoever," said Rep. Paul Gosar of North Carolina. "Liar, liar, pants on fire," he continued. "No one should ever listen to you and give you credibility." www.cnbc.com/2019/02/28/republicans-missed-chances-to-challenge-michael-cohen-defend-trump.htmlLast paragraph left me confused.

I am sure that there was truth to some of Cohen's statements and allegations, but I am also relatively certain that his testimony was tainted by a desire to avenge his perceived wrong doings by the president. I DO find it difficult to give a whole lot of credence to the testimony of a witness already convicted of a felony for offering false testimony before congress. A witness embroiled in the ongoing vendetta between he and Trump.

God, we are getting old and looking back that far reminds us that the game called "politics" has ALWAYS been rife with corruption and deceit. I actually remember watching some of those hearings. It made me chuckle remembering old Sam Ervin and watching him stumble, stutter, and try to maintain decorum and order, just like Cummings did yesterday.

It wouldn't have mattered whether Republicans had more time to review the evidence or not. They had their minds made up before the hearing even began to try & discredit Cohen, & not one of them even defended Trump.
It's amazing to me that Republicans attacked Cohen calling him a liar while at the same time defend Trump who has deliberately told over 8000 docemented lies to the American people.
Trump commited a felony & Cohen proved it with the evidence that he produced yesterday. But i think it won't matter to his followers.
