We baked biscuits in the air fryer oven last night for chicken and biscuits. They baked for 5 minutes at 360 degrees and were done and nicely browned. Now Kathy is beginning to talk about buying a new kitchen range with a convection oven. Our old stove is only about 6 years old and there is nothing wrong with it. Other than to cook a large roast, turkey, or bake pies and cakes that won't fit in the countertop air fryer oven, I see no reason for us to have a new range. Most of what we cook for the two of us fits quite well in the countertop unit. Woe is me. I think we can wait for the normal oven cooking time if we want a cake or pie, and as for a large roast or turkey, we might do one of those once or twice a year. What have I done? I may wish I had never asked Santa for the countertop air fryer oven, haha.

We have a GE smooth surface electric range & it totally sucks. Never again. The damn thing is designed so that the burners cycle on & off continually. Try boiling water for pasta when the burner cycles on & off. It's a joke. It's a few years old & I'm waiting for it to finally go belly up so we can get rid of it. The next one will be natural gas. The only problem is there's no gas line up to our kitchen so I'll have to hire someone to run the new line. I'm pretty handy but messing with a gas line is out of my league.

We have an electric stove but we did not go for the smooth surface cooktop. Kathy cans stuff and the salesman told us that you couldn't can on it because a full canner would be too heavy and would break the glass. He also said that somethings would etch the glass and ruin it.
We stayed with the old fashioned style electric range with the burner eyes. No gas hookup in this house and no natural gas in the street.

Ye, something was dropped on the surface of one of the burners, chipping the surface but the burner luckily still works. And you can't use cast iron skillets on this cooktop. I use to make a mean fried chicken using a cast iron skillet but for that I'm out of luck. For some dishes you can't beat those old cast iron skillets because of the way they hold the heat. Imho.

My mom had one and some of her older pots and pans were not quite flat on the bottom and they would rock and rattle when water boiled. She had to buy a new set of cookware.
I would not want to have to give up my cast iron skillet. Nothing holds an even heat like cast iron. Now with the air fryer we have been doing air fried chicken and spritzed with oil a couple of times it is hard to know it was not fried in oil.
We did catfish filets, onion rings, and baked potatoes for supper tonight. Same deal, spritzed them with oil from my olive oil mister and put them in the air fryer for 12 minutes at 380 degrees. The oil is not enough to make anything greasy. The light mist of oil just helps the food to brown.
I also did a steamer bag of edamame. First and last time I will try that stuff. It is dry and the flavor is similar to lima beans which is about the only other vegetable that I can't stand.
