You in the CNY area seem to be stuck in a cycle of accumulating snow, followed by heavy rains and thawing, bringing about flooding in those area prone to it. It seems to be more frequent this winter than normal. The flooding is normally more prevalent in spring than in mid winter isn't it?
Our forecast has been revised and it is now said that it may actually reach 75 degrees at some point this coming week. I am going out to do a little raking and cleaning up sticks and debris this afternoon. It is in the high fifties now and going to 65 for a high this afternoon.

Ilion has had 3 water main breaks so far. Water is being given out but only 2 gallons a week for free from the State. They are going to be awhile till the municipal water service is up and running again.

2 gallons a week? I would drink more than that singlehandedly in my coffee. I bet that the Herkimer Walmart is catching hell in the bottled water department. They probably have pallets of it in the aisle somewhere in the grocery side of the store.

Finally !! It came in a little after 10pm last night- snow! Just a light dusting, about 1/2", but, it sure looks pretty, as I see it out of my front window. The kind of snowfall that you can enjoy, to be gone in just a few days. As expected, this mornings' local news is full of school closures and car crashes, as people fly down the road thinking that they are invincible, because they are driving an suv or big 4wd truck. I think that, if and when, we get a REAL snowfall (over a few inches), they will probably call out the National Guard.

Sounds like it is about the traffic mess when it snows there as we have here. It is like bumper cars when it snows. The last time it snowed enough to stick on the roads I had to go to the VA in Johnson City Tn. I passed a tow truck and cop on the shoulder of the road, getting ready to pull a car out of a field. The person had jumped the ditch and gone at least 30 or 40 yards out into a hay field. The stupid SOB must have been doing about 60 to get that far from the road. Using the interstate is always a crap shoot as to whether you will get where you are going or will be stuck in traffic between exits for hours because some self proclaimed super trucker was driving like an idiot and jack knifed. It is 55 here right now, going to 65 this afternoon, 69 tomorrow, and 77 on Thursday before dropping back to the normal 40's for highs.

One of my brothers, who lives in Utica, calls the snow "natures leprosy" !

Other Utica residents call it a "Winter Wonderland"... which means, "I wonder when Spring is going to get here?"
