Well, it was inevitable that sooner or later my little eMachines "Super Computer" would become "obsolete".
I upgraded everything that could be upgraded but the processor long ago. Last time, four or so years ago, I replaced the dead hard drive with a SSD, but even that can't help it now. For the last year or so the fans have been protesting on a regular basis, sounding like my lawn mower on a bad day, and pushing three monitors on this thing slows down the processor significantly. I realized how outdated the machine really was when I bought our new router and plugged everything in.........the indicator lights show red if the network card is bad or slow. I realized that this thing still runs a 10/100 connection instead of a gigabit one.

Anyway, been squirreling a couple bucks away now and then and now it's time for a new one.
After much scrolling, clicking and haggling on eBay for a refurbished one to meet my needs I decided to see what a new one would rape me. I also wanted one all ready to go instead of buying a base unit and then spending extra bucks trying to upgrade it for what I wanted it to do. It's more costly in the end, and certainly a PIA.
I decided long ago to go with a Lenovo, mainly because I spent almost ten years with them at Dunkin and have seen how well they work and stay the course being on and running 24/7/365. Our own laptops are also Lenovo and I have had no problems with them at all.
Much to my surprise I was able to order one, brandy spanking new, customized to my needs for less than the ones I was haggling about on eBay!!

So I will be having a Lenovo ThinkCentre M720tÀ with a 256GB SSD, 16 GB RAM and three monitor capability, right out of the box (along with the usual bells and whistles) manufactured and shipped for only $468.00. I did get a HELLUVA discount using my AARP card!!
The wanted $600+ for refurbished Lenovo's on eBay!! Not to mention that the ones one eBay are only warranted for 30 days and the new one will be under warranty for a year.
Only drawback, for me anyway, is it will have Windows 10 on it. I am sure this will be a new learning curve for me and I undoubtedly will be posting here to pick everyone's brains in the near future. So be ready......I don't want to beat up a brand new PC with a baseball bat!!!
