Michael Buble's retirement is a loss to those of us who have grown fond of his easy listening style as he sings the old standards such as "call me irresponsible" or ""come fly with me."

I love his style. Much like Frank Sinatra. I have a couple of his CD's and listen to them often. I tend to be a bit old fashioned and nostalgic in my choices of music. I like the older style of music much more than today's so called music. I listen to a lot of the older country music, and truly enjoy the music of singers such as Buble, Sinatra, and Harry Connick Jr. along with a dusting of big band, and jazz.
My latest find on Sirius Satellite Radio is Sirius channel 71 on my truck radio. It is called "Siriusly Sinatra."
MIchael's Christmas specials will be missed, as will his other specials on PBS.
I can understand his need to focus more on family, and know how having a child with cancer can bring a person a startling and life changing realization of what is important in your life. I am sure that he had a hard time putting on a happy face and standing on stage with any degree of enthusiasm for his music.
When my son had Hodgkin's Lymphoma as a teen, the reality of knowing that we could lose him if they were not able to get his cancer into remission, or cure it, was mind numbing and heart wrenching. MY job, which I loved, and always tried to go above and beyond in my daily performance, became unimportant and I began going to work, insuring that I accomplished what was required of me on any particular day, and going home, spending most nights worrying and losing sleep. His mom was in St Louis with him for almost 3 months total while he underwent his bone marrow procedure and the subsequent stay in isolation while his immune system rebuilt itself and his counts returned to normal. I was able to travel there and spend time with him infrequently as I had to stay home and work in order to pay the bills and keep the insurance that was covering his very expensive treatments. Over a two year period his medical bills totaled in excess of a million dollars and overall the out of pocket expenses were several thousand dollars between what I paid in copays, travel, and what his mom and her husband paid in lodging for her to stay in St Louis while he recovered. Thankfully, the procedure worked. He was 18 when diagnosed, and is now happy, healthy, and cancer free at the age of 48yrs old.
Michael Buble's music will live on, but I will miss watching his holiday appearances on television, and buying his Christmas CD's.
My prayer is for healing, and for his son to remain in remission and to live a long and happy life.
