Any culture that would eat these things would make cheap products and sell them in the United States (oh, I guess that's what they're doing, huh?).

LOL! You know you are correct. Some things just don't seem as though they would be palatable. Just yesterday when I was at the bank one of the girls was telling one of the other tellers how good her lunch sandwich was. It was peanut butter and kosher dill pickle. Nope. That is another one that I won't be trying anytime soon. I saw someone on FB the other day saying how good ghost pepper beer tasted. Why the hell would anyone want to drink a beer that burned as bad going in as it did coming out? haha.

That reminds me of those Jelly Belly jelly beans that come in a variety of flavors like dirt and vomit. Some 7th grader brought some to school and dared me to eat one. Dirt sucks and vomit made me do it. That 7th grader flunked science! Nay. It was funny. www.jellybelly.com

I do have to give a pat on the back, however, to anyone who experiments with different foods. That's how some of our popular dishes were conceived.
For example... in the early 1700's people thought that tomatoes were poisonous and would never think of eating one. Thanks to Thomas Jefferson, after a trip to Europe he brought back dishes from Italy that used tomatoes in their pasta sauce and other dishes. They were mixed with many other things and are now almost staples in our daily cooking... tomato ketchup for example. Another combination that TJ brought back from Europe was mixing pasta with cheese which began one of our most common 'comfort foods'... Macaroni-and-Cheese.
I guess with experimentation 'you win a few and you lose a few'. But I doubt that Wasabe Oreos will be a big seller if it ever comes to the USA.
An aside: About mid-summer my daughter Traci took a job as a bartender in a newly opened Clinton NY bar/grill called the 'Clinton Ale House'. Several years ago while studying for her Masters in New York City she took a course and became a certified Mixologist. Although she's a full-time Special Ed teacher with summer off, she took the bartender job just to help a friend out. While she was the bartender in an upscale Manhattan bar she developed a drink (actually 'shots') called 'Peanut Butter and Jelly'. I recently visited the Ale House and had never had one of those special drinks. She made one for me and sure enough, when I sipped it there was a definite hint of peanut butter and one of jelly. It's her invention and she's not telling anyone, even me, what goes into it, but it sure was tasty. However, I wasn't about to have another one (I had to drive home).

Hmm pbj's that you can drink. What a novel idea. Would make great school lunches. A couple of those in a juice box and they could skip the ADHD meds for the day. Of course they might have trouble keeping the little critter awake, haha.
