Anyone who owns domain names should be aware that a company calling itself Web Listings Inc., is fraudulently soliciting payments through the U.S. mail. They send out a mailing that looks like a bill. In my case, since I just received a new domain name, I wondered if it was a legitimate invoice. It's wasn't. Mail fraud is a serious federal offense with stiff criminal penalties.

Years ago, I remember reading about what was reportedly the "first" case of prosecuted mail fraud in the US. Took place in the 1800's. Some guy placed an ad in a New York City newspaper with one sentence and an address. It read, "Your last chance to send $1 to following address." According to this tale, he never offered anything, but the court found that he had intended to defraud each person who responded. Can't remember the number who sent him $1, but it was a large number. Of course, rather than the earliest case of mail fraud, this could be the earliest urban legend.

That's why I never pay my bills, I just wait for a known and approve credit collection agency to call and then I just send them my money.......

I am done here.. but feel a little pity.. Dave, that is not a Fraudulent Solicitation...
They will be fully offering the service that you pay them for, they design the advertisment to look like a invoice, in the old days payable departments used to just process these by the handful, now many companies require vendors to be approved and will not cut a check to a company that is not in thier system, it is up to you to make sure you do not throw your money away..
