I like the old Doo-Wop music, too... also most of the old rock & roll stuff. I've made CDs of many of the songs that were popular back in the 50s and 60s from when I was young and listen to them often. It's particularly interesting when I hear a song that we played in the band in the early 60s. It brings back many memories, especially if it's a song that your uncle Jim used to sing. He was always eager to find new songs and he sang them well.
As far as what goes on in schools today, I shudder to think about it.

The undisputed guru of doo wop in the Utica area is Bill Looft. As a small example, he can tick off the names of all the Royal Teens tunes, up to, and including, circumstances surrounding doo wop groups and hits of the 50's & 60's. It's his hobby, and, he has a vast store of information on the subject.

Yeah PB. I like the disco music too. Back in the day when I was young and much slimmer and fit, I used to go dance at a place across from the Uptown Theater in South Utica. I can't remember the name of it. Did the whole John Travolta thing with the silky shirt with the top two or three buttons open, the bell bottom tight pants and those clunky shoes like were the style in the disco clubs. Now if I were to go to dance with my three shirt buttons open it would most likely be the BOTTOM two or three buttons simply because I couldn't get them buttoned over my fat belly, haha. When I worked in Oklahoma City at the headquarters for our com outfit at Griffiss I learned to line dance and two step. If I went out tonight I would have to hope that they play the Boot Scoot'n Boogie on 331/3 speed so we could geriatric line dance, slow and carefully. Forget my days of enjoying a good polka or jitterbug.
