LOL! Frank will probably want to keep his island, and simply trade in the female company every now and then for some fresh talent!

It's been mentioned on Free Republic several times that she WAS a looker in her younger days.
Kind of hard to tell after the "saddle stretches" leaving it tough for her to blink!
Hey! I'm a French Fry, how time passes when you're having fun.

Dave, I stand in awe of your superior search skills, but if you ever find a site featuring Gunilla Knutson morphing into Hillary please keep it to yourself. Otherwise the 16 year old in my head will be locked forever into "The Scream"

I think Gunilla was kinda cute. She was only 18 when she did her famous "take it all off" ad for Noxema. You can still buy her book, "Beauty and Health the Scandinavian Way" on Amazon. That 1961 polished brass blonde hair, though ... ugly. Was she really dated by Broadway Joe Namath? Later one of Dean's "Dingaling Sisters," here she is with the singer: As an entertaining aside, you can view the complete scoop on all of the Dingaling/GoldDigger women at: thegolddiggers.wordpress.com/dean%E2%80%99s-list/Gunilla went on to play a part in the movie "Gidget Grows Up" in the late 1960's. That must have been a real thrill! Since then, her "STARmeter" has dropped considerably and there hasn't been a posting on her Internet Movie Database chat board since 2006. And was this Gunilla in the closet in one of my favorite ads from the seventies? I have never since opened an armoir without a titillating expectation and I can now understand why people call them entertainment centers. Here she is, still a cover girl ... of sorts ... in 1970 I cannot find a later photo of her, but I'm willing to bet it's at least a possibility of no doubt dubious quality ... maybe ... she retired to become a librarian, got old, and is one of the women in this photo. None of them look like Hillary.

re: corner's avatar It's quite distracting. I keep saluting my screen each time it scrolls by. re: Che avatar I used to hunt commies. I'll not have one for an avatar.

True, he was a commie. Nobody's perfect. And besides, the likeness is so ... so ... so ... so-so.

I loved the hunting for commies, but I never knew whether you were supposed to tag them or not. I was never given a back tag, or any ear tags for them. I never field dressed one either! LOL! I did once meet an ROK that had ears on a shower hook.
Frank,I think you would do better with a Rambo avatar. I suppose by now, Sly has gray hair, and could grow a pony tail, haha!
Frank, did you ever enounter ROK soldiers? They were some bad assed dudes. I always thought the ear on a shower hook thing was a myth, until I met one with a shower hook full of ears on his belt. Several of them had them. They simply salted them like deer tails I guess.

Well, I can keep trying, but here's another possibility, Frank. But it may not be contrast-y enough for an avatar.

Dave, I'll be sure to use that cigar-smoking avatar next time I run for public office.
Clipper, I recall there were two ROK divisions (or regiments?) that rotated to Vietnam. All of them were volunteers and were known for their hatred for communism.
I don' t know if this story is true or not, but guys in my unit would tell the story of the ROK White Horse division. During Tet '68, the VC had over-run the ARVN forces defending Vung Tau, a former French seaside resort southeast of Saigon (our unit defended Saigon during Tet '68). The ROK White Horse division had the neighboring area of operations and had been given the assignment to take back Vung Tau. But there was concern, because of the number of foreign nationals and valuable properties in the city, that retaking it from the VC would cause a large number of innocent civilians to die and cause a lot of property value. The legend says that the ROKs put down their rifles and walked into the city, taking it using hand-to-hand combat. No VC survived.

All I know Frank is that they were some really impressively intimidating individuals. You could almost see "don't f--k with me" tatooed on their foreheads. I heard the same legends that you did. I had a friend that may have been in your unit. He was blown up in Saigon when a motorcycle he was riding was booby trapped. he was a leutenant. He lives in Clarks Mills, and has plates in his head, and rods and screws all over his body. He also walks with braces on his legs.
He also has reiterated some of the things I saw and heard about the ROK divisions. I will drop you a PM later when I have more time. My buddy may very well have been part of your unit. He was army but I don't know what unit he was assigned to. He was definitely in Saigon during the Tet Offensive.
