When I opened firefox this morning there was a new version available for download. They touted the new and improved speed. I downloaded it and it is amazingly faster than the previous version. It changed the screen format a bit, but I was able to fairly quickly find what I needed to click on to find my bookmarks etc.
I find it much quicker. When I click on something, the response is virtually instantaneous.
My question is this: Do I need to delete the old version or is it automatically deleted when the new one is downloaded? The new download required me to close the old version first. If I need to delete something would I simply need to open the control panel and perform that task?

Good Question Clipper. I'll be following this for results. I had heard that you should delete some programs before installing new ones but you would think they tell you that upfront. I have Firefox but closed it when update popped up cause I didn't have the time at that moment to fool around with it. Wish Dave was around cause he always came though for us almost instantaneously.

According to searches in Google it says not necessary but if you do make sure you don't delete the folder dthat holds your profile as that has all your bookmarks in it. I think in the past all I did was install the new one when it popped up in updates

No Will. Chrome is a Google program and Firefox is a Mozilla program. I have tried several browsers and always end up coming back to Firefox. I just like it and am familiar with finding my way around with it. The only drawback to Firefox is that it uses a lot of memory, but it has never caused me a problem.
Windows 10 has Microsoft Edge pre-installed but I haven't tried it yet. Have you? Dave or CB told me long ago that when a new browser version comes available, I should wait for a period of time and let them get the bugs out before I download it.

The new FF is faster than the old. Chrome may still be a bit faster. Like you I have stuck with FF mostly because I have it set up the way I want and I am familiar with it.

We updated ours a couple days ago. It's faster, but the "share" function disappeared. I'm fairly happy with it, once I changed the theme to a lighter version and rearranged a few things. Being able to customize what you want in Firefox has always been a plus.
