That's SUNYIT's slogan, I just noticed. As a father, I can appreciate the second word, although my children's college days are long gone. Still, it feels odd that a college would concentrate on that attribute and I doubt if the school is safer from tragedy than any other. If I ever open a shopping mall, maybe I'll advertise it as convenient, comfortable and bullet-proof.

I believe the slogan is the result of a recent poll of students. In an effort to attract a larger enrollment, they used a common marketing technique. They asked current students what they liked most about their school. Whether it's accurate or not, it feels safe to them. When I walk on the campus, I can appreciate the sentiment. Of course, I'm always scanning the rooflines. But that's just me

Huh. That's a very interesting marketing approach. Opinion gathering, rather than opinion making. Actually, I've never been there, although a neighbor's son graduated from the school last year.

About 12 years ago, SUNYIT had a thing where if you already had a Bachelors degree, as I did, you could take classes, without question, so you could get a BS in business. I have a BA in psych, and I thought it'd be fun to get a BS in business, and thought it was cool that it would only take maybe a year and a half to complete. So I took classes! I found out I don't care much for businesses classes. LOL! I ended up only doing one semester because I moved to NC, but I'm not sure I would have finished anyway. However, I did like the campus!
I should go back to school for a masters degree. But then...naaaa. I'm getting to old for that! ;-)

Kim, you're never too old. My wife got her MS at age 50 and began a whole new career.

Kim, learning that you don't like something is an important lesson to learn.

I don't want a new career. I want to write a book, have it published, and live nicely off the royalties. ;-)

Then shut up and get back to work. (man, I love saying that--everyone needs a boss-from-hell)
Yeah, Dave, imagine that: customer-driven marketing.
