www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24652807/This is the kinda crap that really pisses me off! I can tolerate the demonstration and freedom of speech. But this has to be just plain ignorant. This has accomplished nothing but to put a hurting on our troops. Whether you disagree with the war or Bush, it should not be taken out on our troops. These people if caught should also be charged with treason or something more than vandalism.

Its not vandalism- its treason. But who cares- we already are getting a lot of our stuff from other countries so who knows that they are doing to the different military supplies.

Does anyone remember the anti-nuke protesters who climbed the fence at Griffiss and hammered and threw paint on a B-52? While the act was regrettable, I still remember it. It was probably the most eloquent and memorable speech made that year.

I was working there at the time. I remember the tightened security for a long time afterwards, and the media frenzy over it. People were all up in arms, but the area that they did the actual paint throwing and hammering in, was in building 101, in a maintenance bay.
They would have never gotten near any armed aircraft, or alert birds. They would have been perforated to look like a screen door had they tried that shit with an alert bomber, loaded with Nuclear assets.

I don't remember the exact outcome of the case. It was a group from the local "Pax whatever" peace coalition, and there was a group of people. I think if I remember correctly it was a woman that threw the paint, but it was a long time ago. There was a local priest that was a kingpin in the group, but I don't remember if he was involved in the incident at Griffiss or not.
Hell, at least once a month for quite a while, we would get tied up at the gate trying to get to work, by these same wandering pacifists with placards. The damn fools accomplished nothing but to piss off the employees. I doubt that making people late for work garnered much support for their cause.
I used to wonder where their logic was. Why would they not demonstrate downtown instead of outside the gate where the only one's that saw them were DOD employees and military personnel?
Obviously, our stand on the issue was pretty evident, in that we worked for the Department of Defense on a base that was well stocked with nuclear weapons. Duhhh!
