www.uticaod.com/latestnews/x94502831/Appellate-court-denies-resentencing-for-Cooperstown-shooterI for one am glad that the racist little turd is going to do his 11 yrs unless further appeals can overturn his sentence. I remember reading about all the hoopla between his father and the judge, as well as the campaigns by the Catholic parish to raise money for the boy's defense. Having read about all the father's ignorant shenanigans, and threats, I don't find it surprising that the kid is simply a racist little apple that didn't fall far from the father's tree. Sadly, the father is still loose, still ignorant and most likely still a racist. He should be less than proud to know that the values he instilled in his son are costing the kid 11 years in prison. As for the Catholic parish in Cooperstown, if I were a catholic resident of the town, I would be traveling as far as necessary to attend mass at a different church. When the hell did it become acceptable for the church to start collecting moneys for the defense of criminals, and taking sides in such a case, when the boy it was obvious from the beginning that shooter had done the shooting, and then shot himself. Fortunately for his family he was a piss poor aim at close range. Probably his lack of accuracy is what also saved the other boy with only an arm wound.

I think there is a lot that is being withheld from the public about the truth of this poor lad. I think this kid is being sacrificed for the good of the race relations of that community. What stays in Cooperstown stays in Cooperstown. I am sure many Churchs regardless of denomination come to the assistance of one of there own. Innocent until proven guilty.

We are all entitled to an opinion Alan, but I find listening to the father that the kid was most likely steeped in racism from the time he left the womb. As for the church, I would simply not want my money from the collection plate being spent to defend a racist in a hate crime trial. Not much doubt about guilt. The only question would not be did he do it, but WHY. I DO understand your point that the church congregation would naturally rally behind a parish member.
