"Now where in any of this does a sensible gun control law prevent a person from owning and using regular guns which are suited for the average."

Wrap themselves in the Reagan mantle? Nope, just the constitution of the United States of America. Then there are those that wrap themselves in the Obama mantle. Probably wouldn't be upset or surprised if Obama was to be sworn in with Lincoln's bible, stacked on top of Martin Luther Jr.'s bible, while wearing Benito Mussolini's overcoat. I guess that those that fall on their knees or swoon when the name Obama is spoken, will have to wait until the day when Obama is gone and someone assaults one of THEIR "rights" such as their "right" to be totally government dependent and entitled to freebies such as cell phones. How will they ever get by without their free text minutes every month? There will be an uprising that will surely rival the numbers of gun owners and NRA members. In the mean time they had better keep 911 on speed dial, and back it up with the number of a gun owner friend just in case they are unable to beat off an attacker with their subsidized freebie flip phone. While you promote your anti-gun opinions Alan, I will offer my personal services. If you are confronted with a gun toting thug, call me. I will grab my gun, jump in my truck and leave Bristol Tn immediately. It's a 12 hour drive but if it happens to be a busy night in Corn Hill I may get to Bleecker Street before the UPD does. I will bring a double barrel shotgun and a couple of rounds and hope that there are not multiple assailants. I would bring a semi-auto but I want to be cautiously sure I am in compliance with NY's new law. As veterans many of us have taken up arms, and have defended panty waists, draft dodgers, hippies, and other pacifists from communism, so it is not any noticeable burden for me to grab a gun and defend a valued and respected, while somewhat liberal friend from thugs if needed. Even if you ARE hell bent on taking away our rights to carry a weapon.

I believe that the reason all of this is common sense to us is because we are truly law-abiding citizens who are only interested in having the means to defend ourselves if need be.
Our politicians do not care about us. All they care about is themselves and their political careers. If they can push some inane legislation with their name on it to further their own agendas, certainly they will do it. Our lives and well-being are an afterthought only. Amen, Denise. You nailed it.
