news.msn.com/us/possible-hiv-exposure-at-buffalo-va-hospitalI am very grateful for my VA eligibility and for the care that I get from them. I however am quite wary of what I have done there any more. Budget cuts are putting pressure on the hospital staffs to conserve resources and supplies. First it was reusing the catheters used in colonoscopy procedures that exposed people to hepatitis and HIV. Now it is insulin pens that are being used on more than one patient. I have started using a civilian doctor here in Bristol for some things since I reached medicare age and have a supplement plan. I love my VA care and my doctors at Mountain Home VA in Johnson City but it is sad that I now have lost some of the trust that I have always had in the care I receive as a veteran. I am sure it will get worse before it gets better with the budget cuts and battles over spending.

Before you know it Medicare will only allow 1 catheter per month for Seniors with urinary problems. Of course they will give you all the antibiotics you want to stop the infections by reusing that catheter so many times.
