Cuomo is a bum. Always was, always will be. His daddy taught him well.

Strangely on this one, I agree with the concept but find a 2 million dollar donation to be a little too hard not to question motives. Non Indian gaming in NY is a great idea, no reason to leave it to only a small group, competition is good and will bring in lots more people and we need outside money to survive. I dont think it should be limited to horse tracks, thats ridiculous!
We have to look at what we can offer, entertainment, vacations, gambling and sporting activities all pay great and bring in outside cash, its not perfect but we have very few other choices.

The unfortunate thing is here may not be anywhere near as much cash as people think. Competition is good but we are reaching a point where there is a casino on every corner.. The casinos in Vegas lost 8 billion , yes billion, dollars last year. Atlantic city casinos have been on the ropes for a number of years as competition from NY racinos and Pennsylvania casinos has really put a hurt on them. The NJ governor is having to help out by trying to protect them.
Locally Vernon Downs casino which opened in 2006 finally went into the black last spring, April I think it was, but they are not rolling on money. Of course with a business model that has the state taking almost 50% of every dollar that is not surprising.
Although I am not against opening it up I think Cuomo has little idea what he is really talking about. I honestly think he does have it in for the OIN. He probably realizes that as many have said, his daddy negotiated the poorest gaming compact in history and maybe he wants to make up for that. If he gets this I believe you will see a casino pop in Syracuse, they have been trying for years now, which will put Vernon out of business quickly and put a real hurt on TS.
That will certainly not be good for this area any way you slice it.

its tough to keep building an income stream on peoples vices it works in the short term but at what price the indians have also managed to keep the mob out cant say the same for non indian casinos

I agree to an extent Corner, I dont see CNY as the gaming capital of the US, a couple private run Casinos would allow for competition and encourage more investment in our Vacation, Sporting and other venues. Thats gonna take a regional plan, so far were not planning much just trying to make it through another day.
